music is great just start the music close your eyes or just read a book
If you have a dvd player or computer you could play movies
video games are a great way to pass time
play hangman or tic-tac-toe or any other paper or card games
rock-paper-scissors
the magizines in the pocket in front of you are sometimes interesting
make sure you chew gum or yawn every once and a while to equal the pressure in your head
for how the plane ride will go:
1 you get on board
2 you wait for the plane to get loaded
3 plane taxis to runway
4 engines will start to go faster
5 take off
6 flight with hopefully no turbulence
7 land with a bump
8 taxi to gate
9 get off
10 get luggage
11 YOU ARE AT YOUR DESTINATION |

Plane fear is extremely common in people. My mom has anxiety problems. Don't worry about it, the odds of any incident are extremely low, even better than cars. Just imagine you're in a car, unless you have car anxiety problems, but even safer. Also, make sure you have plenty of things to keep you occupied during the trip so you have less time to feel nervous. If the problems get severe, you can contact a doctor and get some anxiety pills, that what my mom does. |

Don't be flying in a plane is little different from riding in a car. Odds are with you that the plane will not crash and think of it this way if it is your time it does not matter where you are and if it is not your time then flying can't hurt you. |

Best thing is just to relax.
Consider bringing along some reading material, magazines maybe if you aren't into novels. Also, if your plan allows, bring along a cd player or mp3 player, maybe a notebook to write or draw. Actually, writing down how your feeling, in a notebook can help you relax. Plus your with your dad, you aren't alone, remember that :)
I think you will be fine. I went on my first plane ride a year ago, a 7 hour flight to Acores, and it wasn't bad.
Just make sure you listen to the announcements and safety rules that they present before the flight.
Also, be aware, that when the flight is going up your ears may pop, a piece of advice would be to chew gum during this, and your ears won't feel too bad.
Once you've been in air for about 20 minutes or so (depending on the person) you should feel pretty adjusted.
Again, just relax, and you'll be ok, k?
Good luck hon :) |

planes are fun, take off is like a tame rollercoaster ride and flying is just like riding in a car, turbulance feels like a gravel road, you will be safe, talk to your dad, tell him how scared you are and ask him to talk to you and distract you during the flight, you will probably see an inflight movie during the flight and that will distract you as well, think about how lucky you are to be going on such a great trip, I'm sooo jealous! Good luck! |

Why don't you take Valerian Root? is a Herbal Supplement which they sell in all pharmacies(OTC) and it helps relaxs the nervous system... I take it at night when I go to sleep and I feel soo relaxed and It might help you on the plane ride. I thnink that you need to face the fear instead of hiding it, you have to keep telling yourself that you will be fine, aviation is VERY safe, you are most likely to die in a car ride than in an aircraft!! Pilots have to go through LOTS of trainning and there are 2!! Aircrafts are regularly checked and they have strict regulation for aircraft mantainance. Remember that there are more than 10,000 aircraft in the air at any given time, and how many times do you hear about a plane ride? Once every 6-12 months or so!!
Also try talking to your dad about it and take some magazines with you, watch the movie they offer on the aircraft and take a sandwich with you, you won't get any food up there!!
Have fun and good luck!
Don't worry about it! |

I took my first plane ride just this year at 22 (LOL) and I was terrified as well. I had a flight from Key West, to Miami, to Puerto Rico, to St Vincent and then to Canuan. I brought my Zune fully charged and a few books. My fiance slept through the whole flight. Luckily the books kept me occupied the whole time, but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought, and flying into Puerto Rico was beautiful.Good luck! |

Why don't you talk to your Doctor about it. There are things that he can give you to calm you if you are very nervous of flying. I love flying and find it very relaxing and beautiful. Try to think about the beautiful scenery and the clouds. |

Gameboy always keeps me entertained, or if you are into a book series that helps too(nice thing is you don't get sick on the plane), also if you dad will let you lots of people take sleep pills so they are knocked out during the ride. Honestly when i rode a plane the anticipation was the only bad part once you get on it i think you will be a lot more calm than you think and it will not be bad. |

You have nothing to worry about. I went on an 11 hour trip over the summer, and I was fine. If you have any type of electronic thing like a DVD player, that's good. If not, get a book from the library. They say that a plane is safer than a car. Hope I helped!
P.S. hope you like Puerto Rico |

Listen to your Ipod or read a book (You could read a guide on Puerto Rico). If its a long flight then I'm sure they will have a movie! Just try and relax and enjoy the view and the ride. Keep breathing! I'm sure you'll have a fab time and create great memories! |
