well, if you trip is short, take a magazine a book, something to read...because it get boring....
If its long usually they put a movie, and you can watch it...
Also you can take an ipod or mp3, CD player, whatever you have so you can be distracted...
If there is any turbulence, don't worry is normal..I think of it as sky rocks (which are the clouds)..

My advice is to bring along something to suck on (or chew) while the plane is taking off and landing. That'll keep your ears from popping.

Other than that, I would advise you to bring along stuff to keep you busy while you're flying (such as a book, deck of cards, PSP, ipod, etc) and something to eat (so that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for what's offered on the planes nowadays).

Also, pay attention to the rules regarding what you can and cannot bring on the plane (which I'm attaching as a link below). They are very strict with what you can bring with you and I would hate for your first experience to be a bad one.

Good luck and have a great trip! Flying is a wonderful experience.......

I feel for you as I'm a frequent flier and even I get nervous sometimes. Depending on the size of the plane, you will suffer through turbulence. Normally you will experience it during the climb and return as when you travel through the 'cloud' layer you get turbulence. Also, if you are up and pass through clouds you can experience turbulence. The smaller the plane, the worse it is. Don't be worried if the plane shakes (as hard as that may be) as that's what happens in turbulence. The plane may even rise a fall quite dramatically. If you suffer from any motion sickness, take a Dramamine before you take off and try not look down the aisles as you climb and fall. I prefer a window seat so that I can look out but if you are claustrophobic, afraid of heights or you think you may need the bathroom alot, get a aisle seat. Don't be afraid to hit the button (over your head) and ask for a stewardess. They are there to help you out. Ask them any questions you have.

The plane will make a lot of noises that are all very common, during and after take off. One of the noises will be like a banging noise and it's the wheels retracting into the plane. Depending on where you are flying out of you may bank to the left or right soon after take off. It might look scary, like the plane is "going down", but it's just turning in the direction the plane is going. The first time I flew out of LAX I thought for sure we were going into the ocean. There may be some turbulance going over the mountains and that is also normal. Flying sure beats driving for days to get to where you are going and it's a lot less stressful than the ride to the airport---good luck and I hope you enjoy your flight.

I would take Dramamine in case you feel sick. Don't sit in the back of the plane because it gets the most turbulence (my grandfather who flew 747's told me this). Be prepared for the extensive security.... I would be at least an hour early if you don't want to miss your plane. Go to tsa.com for more info. Good luck!

Bring some gum.. there will be airlock in lift off as well as landing. Chewing on some gum always works for me.

Don’t sit at the front, or anywhere in front of the wings. Because if you get sucked out, you’ll get sucked right into the engine. Sit at the back.
