I'm leaving for France in 5 days and I've never flown over the ocean. I'm kind of nervous. What should I do?

Take a book, favorite item (stuffed animal pillow etc. I realize you probably aren't a little girl but having something 'home like' can help in that kind of setting)

Your flying a translatic flight. That means there'll be a movie, but if that bores you then I would suggest if you have one either bring your ipod CD player or DVD player whatever you use to relax you. If you have or purchase a CD that is meant to get you relaxed (like lifescapes or soundscapes I believe there called you can get them at Wal-mart, or Enya that'll really relax you)

If you think you might feel ill, then pack some Pepto-Bismal or whatever brand you use. Another thing you could do to relax is to take time serveral days and up until the day you depart to meditate. T

his will really help relieve tension. If your traveling with a compaion then you both can practice a routine together (there's instructions on the internet but the key is to relax your muscles make sure you never feel uncomfortable and ALWAYS breath through your nose) Or if your by yourself practice with a friend before departing or on your own.

I flew across seas from Germany when I was 7 trust me I know how you feel! But the perks to flying overseas is to take advantage of the lovely views you'll have (only if you want to look out the window or if you are seated in a window seat) I remember when I did it and it was beautiful. (I was lucky enough for them to be playing an interesting movie too, I believe it was 'Dante's Peak'.)

As long as you plan what to do if you feel nervous, ill or in need of 'feeling close to home' you'll be fine, you may not even need any of this it all depends on how nervous you are.

Don't be nervous. Flying is like sitting in your living room watching TV. Every once in a while you will fell a little bump. You probably will be flying over night, just bring a favorite something and cuddle up and go to sleep. Ask your doctor for a sleep aid.

Relax, you will be just fine. no worries.
Have a wonderful time in France.

Pray, and once you get up in the air and the stewardtist comes by take the alcohol they offer you this will calm your nerves and maybe you might want to drink a little something before you get to the airport like while you are driving there, Or if you don't drink take a relaxation pill talk w/your doctor. Have A SAFE TRIP

Sit back and relax. I'm a travel agent, fly often, and look forward to transatlantic or transpacific flights. If you've flown before then you know what it's like and flying over the ocean is no worse. You'll be flying above the clouds so you probably won't even see the ocean.

I treat my self on a long flight. I buy a drink when the cart comes around. If you don't/can't drink, then I order something special that I normally wouldn't have, like ginger ale or a virgin bloody mary. I bring along things to entertain myself like crossword or jumble puzzles from the newspaper, or some hobby (like needlepoint, crocheting, drawing, etc.) books I've wanted to read, but haven't had the time, and its a treat to pick up a new book or magazine(s) at the airport. Bring along an MP3 or CD player and enjoy the music you'd like to hear and, I enjoy the movies on board as well. I also bring along candy treats and allow myself to enjoy these on the flight, because I don't do this normally.

The aniticipation and planning for all the things you'll buy and plan to do on your flight should give you a new avenue on which to focus and that should alleviate a lot of the stress.

Have a great trip!
