The hardest part is the wait. The rest of it will be easy.
Just be sure to drink a LOT of water and walk around every so often. The best friend of a 2-4 hour flight is a book of sudoku's and/or crosswords. For a 4+ hour flight, check into MANY different things. |

The worst part for me is when people clap their hands when the plane lands. They make it look like we got there by luck or some heavenly intervention when it's about as natural as parking your car.
Most likely, the worst things you'll have to worry about are butterflies in your stomach during take-off, landing and during turbulence. |

I would say the ear popping and hearing loss. I couldn't hear straight for about a day and a half after my first flight (which was my only flight). People say that chewing gum while the plane is taking off and landing will help that out a little bit but I forgot when I was flying. The only other thing I would say is bad is the wait to get on the plane. It takes forever (especially now after 911) and they call people by sections. Also if you are on a plane that arrives late you have to wait for the next flight to get home. I had fun flying though. It was an experience and whenever I get another chance to do it I WILL. |

For me - the security check.
Ears are not an issue when you know how to deal with than inner ear pressure (Valsalva maneuver, Frenzel maneuver) |

Just be aware that unfriendly security staff at the x-ray area don't spoil your happy holiday mood...Don't wear a belt with a metal/ steel buckle. I once did, and when progressing through the x-ray leading to the departure gate, the beep alarm sounded, I was treated like ****, thrown to one side and re-searched like a criminal. |

Here is my list of worst parts of flying:
1. Turbulence. No it's not harmful and the plane is not going to crash. If you have a queasy stomach like mine, if the turbulence gets really bad...you had better ask the flight attendant for a barf bag. I've only thrown up on one flight, that was on an ATR aircraft. I will never fly on an ATR again.
2. Screaming brats. Seriously parents....discipline your kids. Screaming brats are NOT CUTE!
3. Waiting. Especially if your flight is delayed...I get really stressed out. I'm a very impatient person.
4. Altitude. My ears always have a lot of fluid in them, so the altitude change makes my ears hurt.
Those are my opinions. Everyone else's will be different! Have a safe flight! :) |

People on here can be such pricks. The worst part of flying is taking off, it just tickles your belly. I hate when the plane hits air pockets, and sometime it feel like you drop altitude fast but this doesnt happen all the time. Turbulence feels like you are in a car on a bumpy road, except you are in a plane. Good Luck Dont stress |

worst part would be the turbulance (if there is any..) and then when the plane lands and is parked at the gate.. theres always some lady that needs help with her hand carry cause its too damn heavy for her.. then she just stops everyone from gettin gout... |

Having to arrive at the airport so early. Waiting at the airport. Having long lines but lots of unmanned desks. Crying children, children who kick the back of your seat or won't sit still in their seat, people wearing strong perfume, people who need a shower, people who have communicable diseases, people who don't fit into their seat. Airport and airline staff who treat customers as if they are an inconvenience, rather than paying their wages. |

Taking off and Landing |

The actual flight. Everything is cool until you get on the plane. Even then it seems normal, until the plane starts to move down the runway. That's when things start getting a little weird. If you noticed how big the thing was when you got on, if you look out the window as you are taking off, you will see that you are going much too fast for safety. But it gets worse. The thing starts to LEAVE THE GROUND! Never mind that it's going too fast, something that big has no business leaving the ground, and then, after it leaves the ground really fast, IT KEEPS CLIMBING!. And you ask me what's the worst part?, where should I start? |

Take off and landing arent so bad...Just close your eyes and relax....Your ears might pop a bit but its not bad..I think the worse part of flying is when you hit those air pockets..Feels like hitting a pot-hole in the road...They can be a little scary but as long as you know what they are, theres nothing to fear..Try getting a window seat...Its fun during the day flying over those big fluffy clouds..And at night, in a clear sky, its absolutely beautiful! Relax! Enjoy your flight |

The worst part of flying is dealing with the airports - the lines at the counters, the lines at security, the crowding to get into the plane.
The actual flying part is fairly relaxing. If you've got your own headphones (and the ones that do noise cancellation are wonderful!) bring them, and maybe something to read if there is no movie or the movie is bad. Relax and enjoy.
Oh - and tell the flight attendants that it's your first flight. They might give you special treatment. |

Going through security. Waiting. Being stuffed into a small seat with fat people on each side of you. Waiting for your luggage that does not arrive. |

don't listen to the crashing part, I think that the worst part is when the pilot takes off too fast or lands to fast and then your ears pop, but that might only be me because I have super-sensitive ears |

Sometimes your ears can pop on the way down.If you chew gum it helps.Sometimes there can be turbulence, but it doesn't last long. For me the worst part is sitting next to a screaming kid,or next to someone that stinks. |

Airport security and delays. Wear sandals w/o socks, shorts and just a t-shirt..clothing that is easy to check. Also take along plenty to keep yourself entertained during these situations...magazineS help, crossword, word finds etc. Good luck! |

It's a breeze. Once you do it, you'll see it's not so bad. Worst part is 1) other passengers being jerks; 2) getting thru traffic on your way there; 3) waiting in security line. |
