I am deaf. I have a summer vacation in August. How can I board the flight when it is time?

Sit by the boarding gate and tell them to tell you when the flight is boarding.

I am not deaf, but I do have a thought, I hope it helps. Arrive a little early, and let someone at the des know, and they will be able to help you. I am sure they have assisted hearing-impaired before.

Go to the people at the boarding counter gate. Tell them about your situation and ask that they approach you and tell you when it's time to get on the plane. Also ask that they come to you throughout the flight if and when any announcements are made to the other passengers.

I am a flight attendant. Generally what we recommend is to email or call the airline at least 24 hours in advance (you can have someone call for you). They will put a special code on your file to give the gate agent a "heads up." When you checkin, confirm with the checkin agent how you would like us to let you know (ie. do you want someone to come over and tap you on the shoulder or write in your book, etc). You will be given the option to pre-board if you choose, but that is up to you. Keep an eye on the screen at the gate it will say things like "Delta Flight 101 to Atlanta is early/ontime/late/boarding, etc." If in doubt - ask! That's what we're there for! I hope this helps.

Have someone to go with you until your flight boards. That way they can tell you when it's boarding.

I am deaf. Oh they always let me board first with the elderly, children and families. I just go up and tell them I'm deaf, and 90% of the time I'm pre-boarded. One of the benefits of being deaf!

You can either TTY/TTD the reservations call center and they can put special service codes in your reservation that you are deaf or when you check in at the ticket counter, most will understand if you sign, or can pick up on it. Some deaf passengers that i had checked in carry a pad of paper and write a message letting me know they are deaf. It is important that you have the special handling codes put in your record. That way it will be on the manifest for the crew. The manifest tells the crew that there is a deaf passenger in seat 14C for example just incase there is an emergency, they will make sure you are taken care of.

If you need assistance with connections, they can have someone meet you and help you to your gates. When you get to the gate, you are welcome to check in again. Write a message letting them know you are deaf and ask them to signal you when it is time to board or ask for pre-boarding. Most airlines have a Zone Boarding System. The Zone or Seating Group is below your seat assingment. A lot of airlines now have monitors and it will display what zone they are boarding, but not all of them are equipped with this technology though.

Any ticket or gate agent for any airline will be happy to assist you in making your flight go as smoothly as possible. Just let them know in whatever way you feel comfortable. If you can read lips, let them know at check in so that it can be noted as well.

You are also welcome to have someone go to the gate with you that is a hearing person and they can ensure you get on the flight with out any problems if you feel more comfortable.

Enjoy your trip!!

have specaial arrangements made ahead of time. arrive early and when you do, advise someone behind the counter that you are there and of your need. that is what i have seen people do in the past.

Robsthings
A. Le the gate agent know that you will need to be told when boarding is.
B. When the "Now Boarding" status sign is lit on the screen the podium
C. When people start crowding towards your flight's gate, and exit ramp, you will know.

Enjoy your vacation.

Boom
Have someone call ahead and they will make special arrangements for you.

I'd go with the other answers, informing the person at the desk at your gate. You'll get seated first, yay!

when you're checking in, let the lady know you're deaf. and i'm sure they'll help you. and also, on your boarding pass, it should say what time your plane boards, and at which gate. hope i helped =]
