Hey there, X flight Attendant here. You may bring your cellphone, you can use it in gate area and when boarding the plane, once the front door is shut, the f/a will make an announcement and at that time you are asked to PLEASE turn aaaaall your electronic devices, ALL of them. Your cell cannot be on airplane mode at this point, it has to be completely off. Once you reach an altitude of 10k miles, the f/a will make another announcement saying that "you may now use your portable electronic devices", you can turn your cell on but ONLY on AIRPLANE MODE.. it cannot send or receive any kind of signal, no texting, no web, no email, no calls.
the reason for this, is because it transmits a satellite signal that may interfere with the flight deck instruments. Since the GPS uses a satellite at all times to find your location YOU CANNOT, AT ANY TIME durig the flight, use that device. If crew sees you using it, they will politely ask u to turn it off, if you insist in not turning it off, count on having a police escort you off the aircraft.
Hope this helps buddy! safe trip! |

Yes you can take both your GPS system and your cell phone with you in your carry on luggage. You will just not be able to have either of them on during flight. For the complete list of what is and is not allowed on the aircraft in both your checked and carry on luggage you should visit the TSA website https://www.tsa.gov/ |

Don't say stuff like "Hi, Jack!" inside the plane. |

You can bring those things but you can't use them |

Not sure about the GPS, you can definitely have your cell phone. Your best bet is to go to the website of your airline and look up what is NOT allowed in your carry ons. WE could all speculate, but that doesn't really help you. |

Yes you can take your cell phone and you can probably take the -+GPS as long as it is not validated. Take along bottle water and your own snacks. It's better that way |

you can bring your cellphone but you either have to put it in flight mode or just turn it off, i usually prefer to turn it off. i'm really not sure about the gps system, i think that just has to be off as well but i'm not 100% sure about the gps system. |

You would probably want to leave your GPS system in your suitcase. You can bring your cell phone, but you can't use it because they don't want anything that could give the plane trouble. |

yeah you can, just turn them off while you are on the plane. |

Lets see... You have a cell phone, GPS system, money to spend on a plane ticket.
St. louis to Richmond Virginia.
Here is what I would do.
Take the GPS and put it into a car or rental car. Get a car charger for my cell phone, bring 3 beloved friends, and drive to the destination. Take pictures and make pit stops.
Best of all you can buy your own jumbo size peanuts! |

I don't know about GPS but cellphones I wouldn't use.
Usually if you want to call someone there is a phone on the plane.
Also you shouldn't use cell phones because you have no signal |

Assuming there will be no terrorist threats or attacks before then:
1.Yes
2.Yes
But during the flight you cannot have your phone switched on in case it interferes with any of the plane's systems/computers. Things like iPods, hand held games can be used on flights. Drinks cannot be taken on aircraft that was purchased/brought in outside of the duty free area. Obviously no knives or other potentially harmful weapons are allowed for obvious reasons. Magazines and books are also allowed. Security at airports these days is pretty tight, so be cautious about what you choose to carry both in your hand luggage and your suitcase(s) |
