If you want to be able to sleep for a mojority of the plane ride you must be comfortable-
-many airplanes have pillows for you but I suggest you use your own pillows and blankets (it will make you feel more at home)
-listen to soothing music on your iPod (no hip hop or stuff that gets you pumped up)
-try earplugs when finished listening to music
-sunglasses will help if its sunny inside the plane
-take some breathes and relax

to be able to fall asleep..
-stay up late the night before, you'll feel extra sleepy
-If you can watch a quiet movie i suggest that.
-You could take a sleeping pill if you need to
-don't wear jeans or uncomfortable clothing
-you could try yoga or meditation before you leave
-make sure you have all your things packed and ready to go way before so you aren't stressed

GOOD LUCK! and have fun on your trip!

If it's a loud plane, bring ear plugs....i was once stuck on this really noisy plane and couldn't sleep at all.......not pleasant. Also, wear comfortable clothes. I would recommend what you normally wear to sleep in. I don't know about you, but for me, it's almost impossible to sleep in jeans. I always bring my iPod to help me fall asleep as well as tons of things to do to keep me busy and not bored like books, my DVD player, etc. Sleeping pills may help. Hope this helps.

I think it's very important to be very tired when you get on the plane. Drink lots of water to keep you hydrated. Before and during. Bring your own blanket and pillow if possible, anything to make you feel cozy. It is my opinion that you should do all your eating ahead of time, don't eat on the plane, because I think activity will make it harder to sleep. If you have an ipod or some sort of soft music you can listen to, I recommend it. Once the plane takes off and you are allowed to use it, turn the ipod on, get comfy with your pillow and blanket, keep your water close by and try to ignore everyone and everything and you'll drift off to sleep. Good luck!!

I flew that long when I came home from Germany a couple of summers ago. I practically stayed up all night and that did it for me. I had books, my ipod, and a puzzle book, but I watched a little of the movie and the drowsiness caught up with me. I can say that on the way over I didn't sleep at all - it was about 10 hours - I think I was too excited. Hope that helps!

Sleeping on a plane takes skill. If you are nervous about the flight you will probably get an adreneline rush as the plane speeds down the runway and into the sky. Just relax. If you cannot sllep in a moving car chances are you will not be able to sleep on a plane. If you can get to sleep at the drop of a hat it should not be a problem. Close your eyes and concentrate on something that is calm and peaceful and block everything else out.

Don't sleep much the day before so you are very tired then go to sleep at take off and when you wake up the ride will be almost over.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
