What is an unaccompanied minor? The short answer is a child traveling without a parent, guardian, or another trusted adult that the child knows. The age requirements that are generally used by the airlines to define the unaccompanied minor are children between the ages of five and eleven years old (and sometimes up to 15 - it is always advisable to contact the airline to make sure that they accept unaccompanied minors as passengers).
Almost all airlines will charge for their unaccompanied minor services, usually assessed per direction. It is important to note that if a child will be traveling on more than one airline there is the potential that you may be paying more than one fee. Further, not all airlines employ the same rules for their unaccompanied minors. Some permit all unaccompanied minors to have connecting flights if needed; some will allow unaccompanied minors that are eight years old or older to have connections; and some will not permit connecting flights at all. If more than one airline is required, you will need to follow the rules of the airline that imposes the most restrictions. If two or more children are traveling together, most airlines will assess only one fee, and not charge per child.
Enjoy your flight and try not to worry too much....airports are FILLED with personnel you can ask directions or ride on a cart.

You won't need an escort. Just pay attention to what gate you have to go to when your first plane lands. They usually tell you that info as you are descending. If you are still not sure about going to the gate alone, find out if there are any other passengers who will be taking the next flight (chances are there will be someone) and ask if you can follow them to the next gate. Just make sure it's not someone creepy. You can also ask any of the employees at the airport, and they will likely be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck. |

You're on your own, noone tells you what to do. But, if you get lost, just ask someone that works there. |

If you are a unacompined minor, you will get a escort to the next gate. If not, you will have to find it yourself. |

Sorry to break it to you, but you're on your own. I would suggest checking online to see if you can get a gate map of the airport that you have to switch planes at, that way when you get there you'll already know where you need to go for your connecting flight. If that doesn't work, you can always ask someone that works at the airport when you arrive and ask them to point you in the right direction. Good luck and have a safe trip! |

You don't say your age but if you are a young person you need to arrange with the airline for the escort before you travel. Or make sure whoever is arranging the flights arranges for that to happen.
If you do get into difficulties in an airport just ask someone at one of the desks. Unless it's a huge airport like JFK or Heathrow it's usually not that difficult to get around. |

It depends on how old you are. I think they will sent an escort when you are under 14 (might be different for different airline, call ahead and ask or request for escort if needed) if not, you will have to find the gate yourself.
But don't worry. They have plenty of people around who you can ask for direction. And if it's a tight schedule, they usually have directions on where to go as well. If not, just ask the people working where to go. |

I fly often and it's not diffucult, just ask a airline worker to point you to the gate to your connecting flight. It depends how old you are and how busy they are that day, but if you ask to be escorted after being pointed in the direction they may give you a funny look. How much time do you have until departure of the connecting flight? Anything over 45 minutes will give you plenty of time to find the gate, use the bathroom, stretch your legs and so on, even if you get lost. |

You usually have to do it yourself. You're a big girl now. But the people at the airlines will help you any way they can. Ask lots of people for their help- employees and other flyers. Most people are very willing to help. If someone won't help, go to the next person. You'll be fine.
Have you ever watched 'The Secret'? If you decide that you're going to get lost, you definitely will. Decide that you get where you're going with ease. |

no, you go alone. . . but they'll usually tell you where to go to get to your connecting flight before you leave the plane. . . if not your ticket will tell you where to go and you can just ask any airport employee. |
