it is required at the time you board your flight. if for whatever reason you do not have your passport by the time your plane leaves - you wave bye bye! best advice - dont buy tickets until you have your passport in hand. you can pay extra to have your application expedited and express mailed. |

Yes, it is. You can get one at your local post office but it does take quite a while so if you are planning to go anytime within the next few weeks you might have to try and have them expedite it. |

what is your citizenship?
if not UK/Eire/EU: you will need one to get into UK.
(you can buy ticket anytime! it's *your* job to make sure you have the correct entry documents, not the airline's or your travel agent's) |

Yikes!

No, but give yourself enough time to apply and receive it before you go. |

No, but without a passport you will not get off the plane, so make sure you do it well in advance of your flight. Also it is safer to get a picture at the facility rather than a drugstore, etc, since their are certain size requirements for the photo. |

You can get the ticket w/o a passport but be sure to get your passport application in in plenty of time to have it before your trip. Otherwise, you've just wasted a lot of $$ on airfare. |

it takes at least 6 weeks to get a passport (unless you're planning on paying the higher rush price) so I'd hurry and apply for one |
