People will tell you over and over that flying is the safest form of travel, and it's true. Since it sounds like you are not flying alone, use conversation to pass the time and distract you, before you know it you will be in Chicago.
At night it can be truly beautiful flying. The stars are bright and if their is little cloud cover you can see the lights of the cities below.
Bring something to read or listen to some relaxing music, you will be fine. |

No. Flying is fine, but the anticipation does make it seem worse. Take off is my least favorite part, so I make sure to bring a book to read to distract me. Once you are in the air, it is like being on a bus. |

flying is nothing to worry about just relax, make sure you chew some gum when the plane takes off and lands so your ears won't pop
as for chicago enjoy yourself and don't go anywhere that looks like its shady, but that happens whenever you go anywhere thats new, keep your bag close to you at all times, and don't trust anyone...make sure you research the sites that you are going to carefully but over all enjoy the windy city |

no there is nothing be scared of. Flying is actually really safe. You have more chances of getting in a car accident then a plane accident. |

No not at all, I like flying at night as the lights below are so beautiful. You can always take a nap it makes the time go by much faster. Take a book and read and just forget where you are. Enjoy the trip and your flight. |

Dude - things are going to be just fine. It's ok. Flying at night is even better in that it is not as busy, and that there is typically less trafic than during the day. Here are a few tips that will keep you in great shape to reduce your stress and anxiety:
1). Letting the flight attendants know makes them aware that you are a bit nervous and most will go out of their way to make you comfortable.
2). Don't drink - most people try to relax by drinking, but it just makes them act horribly. It is a hell of a thing to be nervous when flying, it's a crime to be nervous and drunk. Avoif it if necessary. It might make things worse in the event of landing/takeoff you might be a exxagerate a bit more.
3). Take a walk - get up during the flight and try to take a walk to the bathroom if necessary. Normally there are seats to the back of the airplane that are empty. Maybe sitting there for a few minutes might help. The open space normally makes more people a bit more comfortable.
4). Use the In Flight Entertainment - see if you could get a seat with a great view of an TV, or a pair of headphones. Music or TV will help you to calm down a little. If you have an MP3 player - take it with you. If you have a laptop - take your fav. movie with you. Take a great book.
5). Try sleeping. If you can get some sleep onboard. It will always help.
6). Breathe - when things are getting a bit hard to handle - simply take a very deep breath. Take a few more, and just try to remove the anxiety from your mind.
7). Get a window or an aisle seat. If you are comfortable with looking out of the window - it is normally a great distraction. If not, then it's great to sit near the aisle so you can take a walk when necessary. Seeing that this is a red-eye flight it will probably be empty allowing you to get the pick of the litter.
8). Do simple excercises - do neck rolls, stretch your arms, stretch your legs out under the seat infront of you. Roll your shoulders, think simple - things that can be done at your seat. |

Dont worry. My first flight I was a bit scared. Honestly after my first few flights I wasn't scared anymore. Its actually kinda fun looking at yourself getting closer than above the clouds.
Well there is a 7x more chance of you dieing in a car crash then a plane crash. That is a proven fact. Well I'm gonnna tell you how a airplane flies.
Well the pilot barely does anything. She/He just sets power and does very small things. Most of the work is done by a auth pilot. The auto pilot has 2 extra back ups. So if it fails it can switch to another one. If that fails then it can switch to one more. The computer cant go wrong either.
While the airplane is landing the pilot will be doing nothing as well. The auto pilot will line up with the runway and descend. The computer can't be wrong. In fact most airplane crashes are because of weather/engine problems. Computers are never involved in accidents.
When your on a plane you might be kind of scared for take off. The airplane will sound very loud and then you will be moving in a very fast speed. Than you will slowly get up and start for the sky. Another experience of mines which is kind of weird is that sometimes when you are climbing alltitude it may feel as though you are falling.
The landing is nothing to worry about either. It will be a slow decsent down to the runway. Once you hit the runway you will feel a slight bump and slow down.
While you in the sky it will as though your airplane is not moving at all. However the exceptioln is turbulence. Turbulence is slight little bumps that you feel on a plane. Sometimes it can be very rough but it usually calms down under 10 minutes. Turbulence is not handled by pilots either. It is handled by computers since they can more easily get out of the turbulence easier.
On the plane if you are very scared just fall asleep. You'll be okay, so I wouldn't worry.
Have a nice time in the Windy City,

no..at night there is less traffic and the plane can see in the dark. If you are having attacks about it go to your Doctor and let him give you something. |
