Not sure if they still do this......but BA used run courses for people just like you. They get you on an aircraft and let you have a look around the places that you wouldn't normally see. You also get to meet the flight crew to reassure you that they are professional people and not just been picked up off the street. This apparently really does work.

I too have a fear of flying, fortunately though I love to fly and have a real interest in aircraft (yes I know SAD).

One thing to bear in mind when you get on board an aircraft, dozens of highly trained people have worked on the aircraft to make sure it is safe. Most critical systems on board have triple redundancy. That is if something breaks there are another two systems which will take over from it.

It's easy for me to say, but try and relax and enjoy the flight.

Yes I believe it would. Did you see holby city on tuesday night? the hypnotherapist helped this man have an operation without anascethic.

I would advise homeopathy to relax you and not a hypnotherapist. Get a natural sedative or anti anxiety in a nature/health shop and you can take it a few weeks before hand if you are really worked up about it. If it helps at all, you should know that globally flying is the safest form of transport. Try deep breathing exercises on plane as well. Is it all through the trip you are scared, or at landing and take off only? Best of luck.

Dunno about a hypnotherapist, but if it's a European holiday, go by train, starting with Eurostar. It's so easy and hassle free, then you get on a train to anywhere else in Europe.

A course with a hypnotherapist could help, but the sessions are expensive. I think British Airways runs a course for scared people, you could look into that.

I wonder what medication the doctor gives you...have you tried Lorazepam...they work very well indeed!

yes it worked for my sister in law

Yes, but you have to have faith in the process. Which comes back to your problem, pilots must trust their aircraft or they wouldn't do it!

Try the Hypnotist but trust the process first.

walter_b_marvin
yes but a more standard therapy is gradual introduction to the fear. try a competent therapist and you should get cured of this forever

Hey carol

I am a fully qualified hynotherapist and was infact trained directly by my father who was infact an airline pilot himself.

The very best advice I can give you is the advice my father gave me when I confronted him about my fear of death. Basically although he's now dead he told me through a physic that you want to die peacefully in your sleep like he did not like the hundreds of screaming passengers on his aircraft as it plunged to the earth.

I hope this helps but please feel free to contact me in a professional capacity at anytime if you are still uneasy.
