If it's a short flight, less than 5 hours. Nothing other than regular travel stuff.

If it's a long flight, such as 12 hours, bring chapstick and hand lotion. You can bring a pillow, sometimes they run out. You won't be able to sleep without one. Other than that, you don't need much except basic travel necessities (such as cash/cc/id). Maybe a few magazines.

Oh. Try bring motion sickness pills in either case. You might need em if you get sea sick. They take a while to kick in so taking them before boarding is a good idea.

Wear open toed shoes, No liquids, all medications need to be in their origional bottles with your name on them, no nail clippers or tweezers, nothing that will make you conspicuous like scissors or mostly anything that is made out of metal. Lighters and glass are taboo. Also keep your cell-phone in your travel bag or on your regular baggage powered off. Make your boarding simple by keeping your luggage free of things like hair dryers, curling irons, chemicals like even the basics... Hairspray, gels, " things that you can buy after you get off the plane." Also, call ahead to make sure that your flight hasn't been delayed. Show up at least 2 hours early for check in. If you have intentions to do harm they will catch you...

The first time on a plane is exciting, enjoy it. Don't drink lots of alcohol and do drink plenty of water, the air is re-circulated and makes you dry.

If you feel nervous, tell the stewardess that this is your first flight, she will keep an eye on you and make you feel comfortable. Also try to get a window seat, seeing the clouds from above for the first time is beautiful.

While travelling abroad, just remember to keep your belongings safe, not everybody is as honest as we would like, don't wear expensive jewellery or show that you have lots of money. Other than that enjoy the experience of being in a different country.

Have fun.

Please avoid being delayed at the airport, call the airline before leaving to be sure the flight is scheduled to leave on time. Check-in counters close 45 mins prior to flight departures. To complete certain government formalities at the airport, prior to departure, we must arrive sufficiently in advance . Check-in times for individual flights should be enquired in advance from the airline's booking and airport offices. The time(s) shown on the flight coupon(s) is the departure time of the aircraft. Flights cannot be delayed for passengers arriving late for check-in and no responsibility can be accepted in such cases by airlines. If you are travelling for abroad, please carry the following documents to be produced at the time of check-in:
Please take care of these items:
. Your airline ticket.
. Your passport containing a valid visa.
. Any other documents that may be required as per local regulations.
Other precautions :

(A) If you'd like a better seat on your flight be sure to ask at check-in. Bulk-head and exit-row seats are usually last to be assigned and may be available.

[ B ] Being prepared could save your life! When boarding your fight, always note the emergency exits in relation to your seat.
[ C ] Need to alleviate ear pressure when flying? Place a hot cloth in cup and hold it over your ear. Try it, it works!
[ D ] Using your laptop in-flight? Since different airlines need different adapters, you'll need to bring a PowerXtender, a PowerCharger, and an Auto/Air Adapter to be "plugged in".
[ E ] Immobility associated with long journeys can be uncomfortable. There are many measures travelers can and should take-from drinking adequate fluids to performing in-seat exercises - to make trips more pleasant. Those measures also may reduce the risk of developing a serious condition known as Deep Vein

Wish you a Happy Journey.

z y's answer seems good. Ignore the little devil. Haha. Also I recommend gum for take-off and landing (to help pop your ears) and a copy of your flight info handy.

Take a large knife to fend off possible terrorist attacks. Wear all your clothing because your baggage may get lost. Tape all your valuables to your body because the stewardess will steal them if you sleep on the flight. Bring your own food because the food that is served will give you food poisoning.
