There are several things you can do.
1) Think of this thought Experts say, just look at the facts. In 1998, the odds of dying in a plane accident were 1 in 390,000, compared to 1 in 6,212 in a car. Yet few people say they are afraid to get into a car
2) Have plenty of rest and sleep the day before you're flight
3) Meditation, deep breathing and muscle relaxation techniques can help reduce your anxiety during flights.
4) Try to enjoy the view from the sky or divert your attention to the inflight entertainment.
5) Desensitization is one of the more commonly used methods in treating fear of flying. This will entail gradually facing the idea of flying, starting with simply talking about it, or visiting an airport, to eventually taking a flight.

Your fear is largely irrational. Yes, there is a danger the plane will crash, but you could also get killed by a bee sting. The most dangerous part of a plane ride is getting to or from the airport (well, that's what parachutists say anyway). You're more likely to die from choking on the food they give you than the plane has of crashing.
As to what happens if you die ... well, this isn't the "Religious" section, so I'll just say your life will be "different" if you die. Mind you, "now" is always a good time to make sure things are "right" with your creator in case the unforeseen does happen.

Through Mud and Blood
Not many planes crash, if there is a problem, they can usually land the plane ok, technology has made this possible over the last few years, if it does crash and you do die, then what do you mean what happens, you ain't really gonna think about that too much. I wouldn't worry, read a book or sleep or watch the movies. And remember professionals who do flights everyday are in control and just have a little faith and relax! Good luck!

I have been riding airplanes since I was 5. I am an expert. If you are scared of your ears getting plugged up from the air's atmosphere then you should do this. Before getting on the airplane, buy some gum, I prefer Orbit or Bubbulicious but it's your choice and then chew the whole way there. If you don't want to barf up or get sick, you should eat Mentos or something chewy and/or flavorful. If you are absolutely scared about it all, take deep breaths before you get on the plane, but never take extremely deep breaths on the plane or you might get sick. You should also have a travel companion or a friend. If you don't have one and your going alone, make friends with a girl/boy your age or a person that looks nice, but make sure that you don't become really good friends or it might turn out to be a disaster! You should also say to yourself. I am going to "___" and I am going to have FUN! no matter what! That's what makes me feel really good. You should look at the safety manuels. The dangers aren't that bad and you should ALWAYS trust the pilot, ok? When I was 7, it was a long spand of time from the age of 5 to 7 and I was scared, but you know what, I got to my destination safetly. Don't worry!!!! To past the time, you should bring a really interesting book to read unless you get airplane sick. You should also bring Uno's, the card game, or any other card game to play with someone, or even by yourself! Ha! Ha! Another past-the-time fact is that you should bring a D.S. or a electronic game inlcuding the game chip, also a portable DVD player like Video Now if the plane ride takes a long time. If it takes a short time, don't bring something that is really valuable and instead, bring a small mini game or just the ipod with movies on and new songs! I know this is a lot to read, but I hope it's really useful! BYE!!!!!!!! Bon Voyage! P.S. If you are really forgetful, don't bring electronic games, only card games and stuff.

Bring a gameboy or psp or a book. these things are sometimes childish but they pass time.

The plane will not crash. The percentage of planes that crash is just about 0.00000001 of all the flights that happen. So you have about a one in a billion chance of you crashing. Plane rides can be fun or not. Its what you make of it..

I know how you feel.
When i came to NYC from Japan on connecting flight in Feb. 1996, I was afraid of plane because I never taken before.
Once I got on airplane bound for Seoul, I was afraid of takeoff and landing.
On next, connecting airline, I wasn't afraid.
On December 18th, 2008 on my first domestic flight from LaGuardia to Cleveland-Hopkins, I wasn't scared at first. Before that, after I heard about news that airline using less jet fuel because of fuel increase, I was nervous and afraid.

On that flight, I past myself, reading books or trip II did which I printed from library in NYC, so I wouldn't get bored.
I made friend with nice lady sitting next door.

I remember in some movie, there were fictional characters who were also afraid of plane, but they did took plane.

If you got on JetBlue Airways, you could watch mini TV because Jet Blue is equipped with TV.

It's really and truly nothing to be worried about. I'm a frequent flyer, and as long as you remain calm, you'll have an enjoyable flight.

Plane crashes are extremely unlikely. Just so you know, you actually have a higher chance of dying in a car crash than a plane crash- there are high safety standards for commercial aviation, and especially in this day and age, with such advanced technology, you have a millionth of a chance of being involved in a crash. Also, with airport security being as tight as it is, I very highly doubt the plane will be hijacked. Stay calm, relax, and try not to think that you're on a plane.

If you can, try to sleep on the plane. You'll wake up refreshed, and it'll be the best way to relax and keep stress away. If you can't, then read a book, listen to music, do some work, or watch a movie. Just take your mind off the fact you're on a plane- trust me, once you're on the plane, it's not scary at all :)

It's really not that bad. I flew for my first time 4 years ago to go visit my friend in Lima, Peru. It was a 3 hour flight from NY to FL. Then, a 2-4 layover with another 8 hour flight from FL to Peru. Yeahhh, I freaked out while in the airport in NY. My mom told me to calm down, but I couldn't. I brought my Pilsbury Doughboy beanie baby with me because I was so scared. I wasn't as scared any more when we were flying for about 10 minutes. I realized that the security and everything was better then than it was years ago. The only thing I hated was turbulance. But I listened to music to keep my mind off of the motions.

i recently just got on a airplane for the first time (check tibecuador thats my other profile) i was scared out of my mind. But after about a hour and you just look out the window and look down and stare your fear will go away...the second time you get on a airplane you wont be scard trust me. oh they show a movie and then television(if you fly delta) good food though...

Moo!
me too,i never want to ride one.First off,DONT sit next to the window.you probably knew that. Then, they usually play movies and stuff, and you can alwayys talk to the person your riding with.Just dont think about crashing and stuff.More cars crash than airplanes!
