If it fits the timezone you're going to, sleep as much as you can. For me, this requires an inflatable neck pillow, eye shades, ear plugs, and sometimes Ambien (prescription -- talk to your doctor).

An iPod Touch is great for watching movies because it's small. I usually bring my laptop, though, and watch TV shows I've downloaded from iTunes. Gotta have an extra battery, though.

Noise-canceling headphones, or at least the ones that go in-ear (Bose and Shure make good ones) can help you tune out the airplane noise and screaming babies.

A book or magazines are good, especially during takeoff/landing (electronics must be off) or when your battery dies.

Big bottle for water. Either buy it after security, or bring an empty one with you to the airport and refill it at a water fountain after security.

Comfort: Stretch beforehand, and some people even go to the back of the plane and do a little yoga during the flight. It'll make a big difference in how you feel after.

If you get cold easily, definitely dress in warm layers.

Have a good trip!

well id stay up all night tonight so you can sleep the whole time but that depends on what time itll be when you get there. if its morning then yea sleep all for the ride. if its night than try to stay up. Load up an ipod or bring lots of music. bring a good book or 2. crossword puzzles, sudoku, diary, travel books about where youre heading too are the best for me cause it gets me pumped. every now and then get up and stretch to keep a good blood flow going and maybe get a travel pillow cause that is quite a long flight. good luck

I'm a long-distance traveler wimp. Comfort is my main concern. I bring:

Pillows for my neck, body and butt (I use a thin inflatable for my butt).
A small foldable foot rest (I have short legs)
Slippers
Eyeshades
mp3 player
DVD player
A long, summer-read type book (John Grisham is my favorite plane author)
Noise-canceling headphones
Saline nose spray
Moisturizer
Snacks
Clothing layers to adjust to the usually cold but sometimes hot cabin

Be sure to snag a blanket when you first get on the plane, as sometimes they run short.

If you have camera that depends on airline's policy, you could take picture.
Or bring magazines, books you wish to read. This what I did when I was on first flight on Domestic Flight.

If you have laptop/notebook depends when it is safe to use, you could use it.

If you have Nintendo DSL, Game Boy, etc, you could play with it.

First of all Music of some sort, a good book or two, maybe a gameboy if you have one and some good ol cards

try to make it comfortably

hoehi
I-POD, crossword books, Nintendo DS, books, portable movie player, deck of cards, neck pillow

In the marines when we'd fly on a long flight they'd PT (physical training) us every 4 hrs or so...of course they'd let us sleep on whatever sched they were wanting us on...

I'd suggest 2 or 3 good books and a couple dvd's...have fun.
