Your best bet is to carry a government issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state issued ID card, passport, or military ID. Standard operating procedure at the airport is to present both your boarding pass and photo ID to the TSA id checkers.

If you've lost your ID or otherwise do not have one on your person (eg, you left it at home or the hotel), you will be 1) asked several questions for identity verification and 2) be required to undergo a more thorough secondary screening (you'll be patted down, wanded, and your belongings hand-searched).

In addition, many hotels require ID and some merchants request ID if you use a credit card.

You don't NEED your ID, but it would certainly make life easier.

I really think you need a passport and a visa.....New York is a different world.

You need a photo ID. You do not NEED a passport - although you CAN use one if you don't have another form of photo ID.

all you need is an id when you are flying within the 50 states and the commonwealths (such as Guam, U. S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) . You can use your passport as a form of id if that's all you have.

Passports are used for international travel

dude I
You will need a passport if you are going by way of London> You only need Photo ID>

You only need a Photo ID such as a drivers license. Passports are only used for international travel. Have fun (:

No, but it may speed things up a bit, as far as security. Flying out of Maine is probably the simplest thing ever. We don't have an airport with any more than 8 gates- which is beautiful.

Well, if you don't already have your ticket you need photo ID to pick it up, and if you are going to have anythings secured as well. To get on any airplane in the US you should have an ID just in case they ask for it, because sometimes they will ask for not only your ticket but an ID matching the name on the ticket. Also, where ever you go in the US you are considered a vagrant if you do not have some form of ID.
