I have confirmed Airline tickets- I printed my boarding pass- and I dont have a seat #! Will I be bumped?

I believe United assigns seats ahead. Many seats can only be given out at the ticket counter - exit rows, bulkheads, seats reserved for infants, undesirable seats near the lavs, quite a few that can't be assigned really. The flight is probably full enough that those are the only seats available. Another possibility is you weren't actually given boarding passes, one of your names might have come up as selectee so you have to actually check in in person.

As far as being bumped. An airline must first ask for volunteers to bump. (FAA rules) If no one volunteers then they do have to choose someone. Personally I will ask someone who has a later connecting flight available first way before someone who it would inconvenience much more (overnight or something).

No, i just flew back from ny and my seats were confirmed going and coming back they were not just get the ticket agent to check your seats all the way to your destination and back

I don't think you'll be bumped. Sometimes they don't confirm seats if it's a fuller flight or you ordered last minute. You should be fine.

I just bought plane tickets too that didn't have seat #'s and I am traveling with a child and my husband and I wanted to make sure at least two were together so I called the airline and they asked if I wanted to go ahead and confirm my seats over the phone and they were able to tell me what they were for each flight. And these were tickets with united too.

The only reason that they should bump you is because if somebody has a medical issue, or a traveler(s) is in desperate need of a seat change (ex. parent has died). If they did have to bump you, they would have to pay you or move up to first class. If you are putting luggage in the cargo area, your bags should be shipped on your original flight, and the TSA will take it out of the baggage claim if nobody claims it, and keep it in the office until you get there.

I am afraid you are more likely to get bumped than if you had a confirmed seat, IF they have assigned seats for this flight. Some flights only assign seats at the airport. If a flight is oversold, which airlines routinely do, they will ask for volunteers, then if there are no volunteers, they will bump someone. I would call the airline and ask to assign a seat to you. Get to the airport early. Good luck!

They can bump you if overbooked. I would be there at least 2hrs. early, maybe 3 if a major airport such as LAX. Or call the airlines reservationist & see if they can assign seats however don't wait to do this as they close the flight a certain no. of hours prior to reservations assigning seats over the phone. I don't agree with using a TA, if you book things over the inet, always call the airline deirectly early in advance to ensure seating assignements.
