I have never flown in an airplane. I just booked my flight, any advise?

I fly alot and I can relate to first time flyers For starters: taking off- you will go very fast down the runway it will brace you back in your seat. As the aircraft starts to ascend you might feel a little headrush but this passes very quickly ,once you are airborne and reach a certain altitude things get alot smoother so relax You can hear the plane speed up and slow down. On a cloudly day you will probably experience turbulance which feels like you are riding on a bumpy road. All these things are normal . I think you will have a great experience. So relax and enjoy and have alot of fun in Michigan.

I just took my first flight last year (at 34 years old) so the best thing that i can tell you is try to relax... It's good that you got a nonstop flight. that helps. and the gum advice is good or you can also use hard candy. It's not as bad as you think it will be. You will probably have butterflies for most of the flight... but then, when it's over you realize, that it wasn't bad, and you did it!! :) I think that we tend to overthink things, so try not too. Take the advice into consideration but in the end, use you own common sense and try to relax as much as you can! It will be fine! Like I said, I went thru everything you are feeling just last year!

All of the previous suggestions have been very good.
You will be asked to remove your shoes and anything metal.Your pocketbook will be searched..No reason to worry.

Bring food such as chips, cookies , fruit or a sandwich. There will not be food in coach.
Bring a book or magazines.
Have a great flight.

EAT A chewing gum before the flight to avoid ear pops!!

Arrive early, travel light, wear slip on shoes, relax and enjoy the flight.

Chew gum during takeoff & landing. I hear it helps with the ear-popping stuff. Other than that... the flight itself will be fine... but takeoffs & landings, in my experience, are a bit stressful. Of the many plane flights I've been on... I've only had two that didn't scare the crap out of me. Last time it really didn't help to have a NAVY guy sitting next to me going "this doesn't feel right!" as we're landing! I wanted to SLAP him and say SHUT TF UP!!! HAHA.

Anyway... I was really scared my first time too... but it's not that bad. The bigger the plane, the better though. The smaller ones you feel more movement. The big ones, not so much.

get there two hours early, plenty of gum, and don't forget the air sickness pills. Most important: call to make sure that your flight will not be delayed.

Bring gum to chew, it helps to equalize the pressure in your ears. Bring a book to read. Wear comfortable clothing. And get a window seat if you can so you can enjoy the view!

I have never flown either. I am thinking about travel which will require flying. I would take a sedative to fly. I certainly understand fear. I will say prayers for all flights to keep you comforted in GODS arms. God Bless! < hUgS), dcrapunzel

Tell the pilot not to crash the plane. Sometimes you just to remind them in case they forgot not to.
