No. I travel often. Underwire bras are pretty much all I wear.
I have never had a problem with the airport security screening machines.
No questions are dumb!
Take care,

Jessie H has it right on this one -
It all depends on how sensitive the metal detectors are set.
All of the time prior to 9/11 and most of the time after 9/11 I've had no problems - and I wear only underwire bras.
BUT, Christmas 2001, when security was still REALLY tight, they had the metal detectors set too high and literally EVERY woman going through one specific machine (including me) was pulled over for the wand screening, and the only metal found on all of them was in their bras (the underwires and the hooks in back).
And BTW, the wire in a bra is not "lethal" enough for it to be banned from the flights, at least not yet. Heck, they still let people bring knitting needles and crochet hooks on board too, and they have pointed ends, where underwires don't! |

I dunno, they might think you are a terrorist though, I would not wear clothing that had metal in it to be safe. |

No you should be fine to travel with an underwire on - I travel quite a bit and have never had an issue. |

I guess it depends on how sensitive the metal detector is. It has never happened to me though. |

If its metal I think it would go off. |

I depends. I travel frequently and wear underwire bras, and while it is rare, I have had it happen to me - that I tripped the detector with no other metal. Generally this is not an issue, but it can be. |

I travel a lot and it has happened only once but it did. I got a frisk from a very apologetic older lady TSA agent who was very professional. It was not a big deal but since I travel so often I opted to purchase bras that had plastic underwires or no underwire type supports for my travels since. |

Yes, and as the wire can be taken out of the bra and used as a weapon they have been banned from all flights. Furthermore as not all underwired bras are underwired with metal wire and yet still have the potential of being used as a weapon, the TSA have banned all bras period in the plane cabin. Which means, you should NOT wear or even carry a bra in your hand luggage for a flight. |
