For the complete list of what is and is not allowed in both your carry on and checked luggage you should go to the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ Currently right now the focus seems to be on liquids and gels, they are allowed but must be limited by size.
Hope this helps and have a great trip!

It will depend on your country of origin, destination, and sometimes even airline.
But if you want to use www.tsa.gov as a guideline, go ahead.

You can't take with you an umbrella. But then I don't understand why they allowed me to bring with my my crochet hook. I was crocheting while I was on my way to my point of destination then. You cannot bring with you shabu, live bullets as necklace, hair spray, lighter, matches, and even perfume.

Your best bet is to call the airport.

Fluids equaling over 6 oz. It includes water. Also, no sharp objects like knives. I think scissors might be okay, but call airport to be sure
