The simple answer is, 'Yes'. But I don't know your reasons for finding it unbearable. As for me, I find the finding the check-in desk, checking in, security, waiting at the airport, etc., as off-putting as the actual flight itself.
Airport authorities have to bear much of the blame for making flying as unpleasant as it is today. They and the airlines treat us like so much cattle to be herded and penned into a cylindrical tube. Yes, it cheaper to fly nowadays, but must it come as a price?

Anything over 2 hours in a plane is really difficult for me. I'm quite tall, and flying in coach is like being squeezed like a sardine into a can. I seldom fly anymore unless I absolutely have to.

Yes, try the fight to Singapore it's more like 18 hrs!
Go by sea, it's much longer!
If we could all afford 1st class, it would be a breeze!

Me I'm going to suffer again,Heathrow to Australia, with only a refuelling stop!

But I like to see the world, before I'm too old or infirm!

You're a long time dead mate,so get out and live, while you have the health and strength!
The time will come soon enough, when you will not be able to fly, then you might wish you had made the effort, but it will be to late by then!

I'm almost surgically attached to my pully and yet, 10 years later, I'm still enjoying the majority of flights that I take.

Being able to use the laptop with power is a plus, and the new internet services that are coming in will make it much the same as being in the office. If only the bastard in front would pull his seat up while I eat...

No, I love to fly. True I'm only 26 and things may be different later on but my grandparents (who are not far off 80) go abroad at least once a year.
I think the trick with flying is firstly not to dread it in advance. 6 hours of thinking I am going to hate the flight I am about to go on hardly makes to shout "Whoopee" as you board. If you don't think about how bad it is going to be it won't be so bad.
Actually I really hate to fly but I refuse to let myself think I'm on a plane, I just think I am spending a few hours enjoying a book and the watching TV and then my book again.
Finally - don't go in for 12 hour flights if you hate flying, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of great places within a 2 or 3 hour flight of the UK. Go there instead or fly in many short hops staying at different places overnight on the way if you are determined to see the ends of the Earth and don't want to fly.

I always fly with "diazepam airways" nowadays.

Air travel is a real drag. Even a 1 hour flight seems to take all day now, by the time you check in, go through security etc.

It's far too cheap, as well.

Try travelling 11 hours with three kids under the age of 5.
HA, can't beat that can you?
But seriously,
I also used to be able to travel on my own quite well, excluding when I was a child and used to get airsick, now it's exhausting, unbearable and neverending.
