the simple answer is this you cannot fly without a name and you also need a name for a passport even new born children require passports and a photograph so unless you have a passport with a name you wont be able to travel anyway. remember no passport no flight |

You inform the airline you are pregnant and once the baby is born, named and registered you contact them to put the right name on the ticket. I had to do this after finding out I was pregnant just after booking a holiday. |

I did this a few months ago...they put the baby as 'to be arranged' on a provisional basis and I called them when she was born and they updated them. Although the baby is on your lap and doesn't require a seat, they are still issued with a ticket so make sure you let the company you are booking with know about them. Another tip, the hotel I went to didnt provide a cot or anything even though they knew I was bringing a baby, so I would suggest you take along a travel cot as I think some hotels only have so many and once they are gone, they are gone ! Hope this helps, have a lovely time. |

Depending on when your flying, I would not risk flying whilst a partner was pregnant and certainly not for 1yr after. Depending on country it could be a lot longer. |

you can get fares when you like to travel with child but mostly infant dosent have seat so it is not in the count of seats every time infant can travel by taking tickets on airport , let your child born with great blessing and then apply for passport and then you go head to book tickets when doctor fit to allow you to travel with child, it will not cost more at any point of time specialy for infant,
and
congrats and god bless your new born baby

So far only poor answers.
I'll try to do better.
If the expectant mother is more than about 30 weeks pregnant many airlines will not let her fly at all. It varies so check with the airline.
Would not hurt to seek advice from the expectant mother's doctor either.
Many airlines have restrictions on newborn infants. Again check with the airline for their policy.
The mother of a baby less than a few weeks old is unlikely to want to fly at all, so you should have time to choose a name.
It is not necessary to have the child christened before you fly
Hope this helps.

Hi when we went on holiday in June with our children the baby aged 10 months did not even need to be named. He was just noted with my name as "plus Infant". We paid ten euros each way for him. So just book him with you as "plus infant". We were not asked to produce ID or anything for him. I should point out that we flew with Aer Lingus but I can't see it being too different from other airlines.
Enjoy your holiday!!! |

Normally, you can do this. Please note the airline's minimum age requirement and factor in if the baby comes late. They usually don't let you go past 42 weeks, or two weeks over term.
Also, if this is for international travel, you might need to get a passport asap. Get the paperwork ahead of time and make whatever apt. as soon as the birth occurs. My children have French and American passports and there were all sorts of rules about when they had to actually see the child at an interview. You might also find out where you can get an approved photo. That alone can be a pain with a tiny one! (i.e. British insist on white backgrounds, Americans want to see both ears, most require that the eyes are open, etc.)
Babies under 2 can go on your lap. This is allowed but if anything happens, your child is not protected and there is no safe alternative to an actual carseat. Having said this, air travel in the industralized world IS safe and there's very little chance of anything going wrong.
For more information about flying with children, I have a totally non-commercial article on the subject that I put on a blog to share with other parents. I'm an ex-F/A.

For flights, infants under age 2 can be "lap children" and do not require seats on a plane. |
