Udonthani is towards the north of a country.
You will have a good time, I promise you.
The food is great, and very cheap. The women are incredibly beautiful and everyone is very friendly.
There's not a lot of tourist spots in Udonthani, but having the benefit of someone who lives there will mean that you can get to see some of the real Thailand. You might want to get out and about a little, and I would recommend a trip to Chiang Mai for a couple of days if you get chance, and then to some of the hill-tribes near there.

You'll probably travel through Bangkok on your way in and out, and that's worth a couple of days.
Get to Sukhumvit, and find a cheap hotel (I'd recommend The Prince asd reasonably cheap, and then you are near Soi Cowboy, and Nana Plaza where all the night-life is.
The pace of life is so much slower than the west, and you'll probably be only just unwinding when its time to go back. But you'll want to go again next year.

There's so many places to go, so much to see, and so many experiences to have that your mind will be completely blown - literally. The culture shock really does take some getting used to.
It's fantastic there. Don'y listen to those idiots who say its unsafe. Its thousands of times safer than London or New York, or any Western country.

Listen to frogsareace don't go, the problem is it's an old school pal and he got into a lot of trouble and needs an accomplice to back up a story for some thing that happened or the state police suspect is wrong. If you go you better find out where the Canadian or if your American then consolute is and tell them exactly where you are at all times. At least the American Government will fight for you.
