Most of the time we cannot hear your announcements. I might have been one of the people in line as I was stuck in a middle seat between two obese men who had to have the arm rests up in order to fit. I thought I could survive if I could be distracted by the movie but the headset would not work.

I had to sit like a mummy for 8 hours staring into space. I wish I had the nerve to ask you for another seat. I was just humble to be able to get out of Denver 2 days late for Christmas.

Unfortunately, many people these days have entitlement issues. They think their personal comfort and needs go ahead of everyone elses. The trouble is that common good manners are not being taught or used anymore.
It makes jobs like your very difficult to deal with unfortunately.

I've actually started a book recording events of actual idiots I encounter when I fly. Most idiots are just self-indulgent egocentric boneheads that think they are the only one of any importance in public. It is only coincidence that they are also idiots.

i know its a lot of work but that is why the airline chose you among the rest. they know you can handle such situations with enthusiasm. sometimes you just have to be your own hero. extend some more patience. you don't want to announce that you are resigning because of their unlimited wants. just explain it to them again in a professional manner. they might just want to hear what you have to say on a personal level...

I work at the airport as well. You are right they are completely stupid. It seems like they lose there minds as soon as they hit the parking lot.

Maybe they thought they could swap, with other people, or maybe they knew that even when a flight is sold out there is a 10% surplus in empty seats but didn't realise that they were also full or maybe

I have found that it is the GENERAL POPULATION that has become stupid. I cannot believe some of the things I see daily.

Just look at some of the questions on Yahoo Answers! STUPIDITY is RAMPANT these days!

I worked for an airline for 31 years...You should know that rule #1 is that people don't listen to you...unless you make those announcements like '...and the lavatories are located in the compartment above your head!! --LOL but I actually heard that.
Usually the gate will try to solve seating problems...but often for a variety of reasons they can't...they can't contact the passengers etc...or they don't realize that a 6 year old a 4 year old and their mother are travelling together seated seperately...That's when it becomes hard on the flight attendants..not because the gate didn't try..but didn't know (often until the flight was almost fully boarded).

All of these people seem to think that they know everything about the airlines and feel they can get away with anything when they really know nothing about the airlines and how things work.

It is not just when they are flying. This happens everywhere and it is not because they are dumb. Even highly intelligent people would do this. I do understand how you feel. I travel a lot and see this sort of behaviour (or similar) and often wondered "IF they just could listen or follow instruction then they would be less stressed out"

It is one of those human nature thing. Most people do NOT take any notice of what is going on nor do they listen to important instruction. It is the "don't care attitude" we are cultivating into ourselves and our children - not all of us, but it is rampant. Because It is not just at the airport. How often have you seen things like these: sign says "Do not poke your finger in the bird cage. WE BITE!" and someone will inevitalbly poke their finger in then complain why their finger is bleeding!

It is just one of those things we all need to let it go after the day's work. I am sure you handle the situation the best you can. But DO go home and have a yell at a brick wall and release your frustration.

Because they think its like everywhere else they go...scream and cry and throw a fit and the manager comes and gives you what you want. When an airline says "no" I'd sit myself down and make other plans. One call to security and your getting a cavity search that you wont soon forget.

There are many pple in this world that doesnt' listen very well. Even if they knew the answer is "no", they'll ask anyway, in hoping to get a "yes"

Well, you can't really blame them for it. They arrive at the airport hours before the flight, go through check-in, go through security, then they have to wait a few more hours. Then with their ticket in hand they are told that they do not have the seat that they had paid for due to overbooking.
