If I'm traveling on a plane, is it okay to put aersol canned cheese in my checked baggage? Will it explode? |
My boyfriend lives in England. I'm visiting him soon, and he really wants me to bring along some Cheez-in-a-Can. Ha ha ha. Seriously, is it okay to put it in my checked baggage? Will it explode? |

It's perfectly fine to put it in your bag. Just make sure you pack it inbetween some of your clothes and keep it in a bag. The only thing that would cause it to explode would be having the pressure of other bags on top of it.
One last thing, check the maximum temps that it can be stored at. The air temp at 37,000 feet will hover around -50 Degrees F. The cargo compartments of the 747 are not all heated, just the front one. The others are just insulated really well, but it still gets REALLY cold in there. So if your bags are in the back bin, then it could risk getting too cold and blow like that. |

Hello

Put it in a zip lock bag just in case.
I think that the baggage hold is pressurized, they put animals down there.
Also remember that your suit case might be more likely to get opened and inspected if they see the can thru the xray machine. |

Yes, you can pack it. It's specifically mentioned as being OK on the TSA website:

Can it explode, yes, the cans are under pressure and the plane is also pressurized putting the can under more pressure
will it explode, probable not, but to be on the safe side put it in something sturdy like a small box just in case it does explode it wont get on everything else in your bag. I'm more worried of something happening to it when bags are being loaded / unloaded vs. when its actually on the flight |

You should not take it with you even though you can, it may explode.
Depending on on the plane your luggage may or may not be in a pressurized compartment. Why take the risk over a can of cheese whiz. Fed-ex it to him instead. |

Bring some and throw it in a Ziploc bag. That way if it explodes, it won't make a mess all over your things. |

I suppose you could double-triple bag a can or two in ziplocs and see if it goes ok. technically I dont think your supposed to carry that sort of thing but if I was going to give it a go I would ensure that it was really really bagged incase it pops so it wouldnt ruin all my clothes. |

The cargo holds ARE pressurized, usually to the equivilent of 7000 feet. I would place it in a tough plastic bag though just in case.
Think of all the cans of shaving cream that don't explode in men's luggage, so you're probably good to go. |

The baggage compartment is not pressurized so its a distinct possibility |

I think it would explode. And i highly doubt that security will allow you bring the can. Just leave it at home. He can get his can of cheese when he comes visit you. |
