If I am flying from Florida to NYC, do I need my green card? |
I am a lawful permanent resident of the US. Do I need to show my green card at the airport, or will my driver's license be enough? I don't want to carry my green card with me because I don't want to lose it, since I lost it before and I know how hard it is to get it replaced. I always keep my green card locked up at home. |

On any flight within the 50 US states you only need a driver's license. |

No, unless you are coming from another country, the customs office won't even need to see you. Identification is only used at check in, to confirm you bought a ticket and possibly during Luggage Return, the receive the luggage which belongs to you. |

You already got good answers, but I just want to say how wise you are. So many people write in here and have lost their green card and now want to travel out of the country. They seem to think they can do that without their actual green card! Many do not seem to value that card that took so much work to get. of course, many people treat their birth certificates and passports with equal disregard. These days we all need to be much more careful with those valuable documents. Have a great trip. |

My guess is that you'd only need your driver's license, but it would be best to contact the airline to find out for sure. Domestic flights don't usually require as much ID as international. |
