Took me many expensive phonecalls to get through to them after being cut off and waiting in a queue, their call centre staff member said the money would be refunded but he didn't apologise or offer any explanation, just sounded like he was doing me a favour

you should ask for compensation aswell for the inconvnience that it has caused you, although i suppose a refund and an apology is more important. thats ryanair though/

They wont offer you a voucher, they will give you a FULL refund, if you have been charged twice for the same ticket and flight.
Contact their customer care and they will do it there and then on the phone for you. It happens all the time, people hit the “buy” button twice and it double takes their Credit Card.

Yes I think they should but the reality is that they are so cheap they don't seem to care about the customer. I flew to Italy with Ryanair and we were over-limit at Stansted as this was the time of the scares with liquids and they let us leave the country overlimit as handluggage weighed nothing. On the way back out we got charged £8 per kilo - we weren't alone and they had no sympathy at all for the fact that we couldn't carry liquids etc.
It's the same with Easyjet. I had to change the name on a ticket once and they charged me a further £92 to do that as they updated the price on the day of changing the name despite the fact they weren't selling a second seat. I wrote a letter and to-date (2years later) I'm still waiting for a reply!
Sadly they don't care about retaining existing custom.

They should do a damn site more than that, a full refund should be the least of what you should expect. And an apology and explanation. Compensation too, for the cost of calls and harassment.

They probably will offer you something if you kick up a fuss. Write to the Chief Exec and threaten to complain to your local press and on Internet travel web-sites.
