Because that's where flights officially end, or "terminate". You can find ferry terminals too. Same thing for major rail stations, only they call them a "terminus". Its not suggesting that they are dangerous, only describing their purpose.

What did you do, copy this question from wiki answers and aol answers? Duh.

It has nothing to do with being 'safe' or 'unsafe'.

It's like 'Union Station' in New York City. It is not a 'station', it is a TERMINAL. As in Union Terminal. It is where trains originate (start) and terminate (end) their travel. Same thing with an AIRPORT. The terminology just carried over as an airport and a train terminal perform the same function for the respective transportation vehicles.

A 'station' is where a train stops briefly, discharges or takes on passengers. Trains do not refuel, repair, or stop for any length of time in a station. They come in and in a minute or two, they are on their way. In some ways, I suppose, an airport does that as well, but usually each 'flight' either stops or ends at an airport, even if you stay on the plane to another destination - it's a separate leg in a longer flight, and each leg has different 'fight numbers'.

to make you ask questions!!!! and it worked!!!!! :D

Confident
Because that is your destination and if you hit the airport itself you'll crash and die.
