If i took 40 or so balloons in each hand (80 ballons in all) would the balloons make me float on air?

No. This was presented on Mythbusters. You need way more than that.

no it wont. mythbusters proved it would take much more than that... thousands... to lift a 3 year old girl

Depends on the size of the balloons and what they are filled with.

A sufficient quantity of a gas that is lighter then air, then sure.

No.. they did this on Myth Busters. It took like 500 balloons and they had to make homemade ones that were GIGANTIC before they could float on them.

Yes, it you get big enough balloons, if they're filled with helium (or hydrogen, but that may not be a good idea), and if you can hold on well enough.

I seen the mythbusters episode with the balloons and it did work, the balloons were above average size and filled with helium and he floated 100 ft in the air while sitting in a chair strapped to the ballons.
He then shot the ballons (pellet gun)one at a time until he landed safely.
I would imagine if they were nomal size ballons it would take A LOT of them, hundreds if not thousands.

well it would depends what you weigh...but based on a test by myth bustersit took several hundred baloons to lift a toddler off the ground so my guess is you would need several thousand to lift an adult

no it would be more than that..but you wouldnt need thousands like the person above me said..some guy did it twice with a couple hundred and attached them to his lawn chair..well he disappeared and died..but anyways..granted his were the 5 ft diameter baloons..but you'd still need more than 80..and it you go more than a certain distance in the air..i belive it would be an air-space restriction without being certified

Nope, well maybe a baby but not a grown person. It would take 100 big balloons in every hand for a child. Soo... its a failure.
