if you are going outside the country you may have problems, i would call the airlines and check in advance.

It might be easier to book in the name shown on passport, but if you've already booked you should ring up the ticket agent and hopefully they will put a note on the computer for when you check in.

You book your flights with the same and full name that's on your passport.

brandy
Booking name must be same as that on passport.

lizzgeorge
No, it will be fine as long as one of the names is on his passport. I go by my middle name, but I always fly just fine because my full name is on my passport and drivers license.

If your agent said you won't have problems, she is clueless! It most definitely IS important and he will get denied boarding. You need to get this changed ASAP! There is a chance, depending on the airline that you will not only have to pay a $100 dollar reissue fee, but the purchase of a whole new ticket. I'm not sure. I always ask my clients for legal passport names.

Even if this is just domestic you have to have your legal name even if you aren't used to going by it. If you decide to risk it, that would be a mistake to do so.

In all honesty I haven't come across this because I am so careful with names, but the airline might not let him use this ticket at all and just make you buy a new ticket without being able to use towards the new ticket the portion you paid for this one.

Should your travel agent asked for your full/legal name. Yes, however in them not asking this isn't there fault. How would one know that Craig isn't the first name. It is the ticket holders responsibility to give us accurate information. At this point, you are at the airlines mercy. They sometimes allow a note to be put on the record, however if this is an international flight the chances are virtually 0 they will do that. All you can do is ask at this point and get it fixed by whatever means possible.

Good Luck, I hope it doesn't turn into to big of an expensive learning lesson for your son.

I would have said no as long as youu have a second form of ID with you- if he's young he might not have a second photo ID but a copy of a birth cert or something official should suffice. I would call the airline to double check though. It will put your mind at ease.

kurdland
yes you will definitely have a problem just before you board in the air plane. your name have to match exactly as it is on your passport.

i had that problem going to Portugal.

Just been on hols with friend, passport office had his surname as christian name and surname as christian name. Their mistake, but as airline had him booked in his proper name they charged him £30. Passport office accept no responsibility and he has to apply for new passport. or remember to use his surname first.

Simple answer is Yes! I would have thought so when it does not say your first name. you have to put what it says on your passport. the best thing is to phone up the airline company or the helpline for the airport itself.

Yes, you need to change it with the travel agent. We made a similar mistake last year and had to pay £120 at check in - they said they had to cancel and rebook the seat into the new name. Better to be safe than sorry.

Why not phone the airline and check?

i would of said that as long as the ticket name and the passport match up name wise then he should be ok. would still check with the customer services at airport first though.

emmaline
why didnt you just use the correct name to begin with and you wouldn have any doubts then?

wwhrd
The name on the ticket must be the same name as the ID . I'm surprised your travel agent didn't offer to change the ticket to match the passport. Since 9/11 things are a lot more strict.

If your agent doesn't want to fix it, call the airline and talk to them. You might have to pay $100 to fix it, but at least you're getting it right before you get to the airport.

You must have the name the as that on the passport. if not you would be able to book anyone on a flight under an assumed name,
your travel agent is wrong, if you booked it in your name and binladden turned up with your ticket what chance do you think you have of getting on the flight ?
