This was determined in the days of sailing ships the citizenship of any child born whilst in transit will be that of the parents. Although some say that the citizenship of the child goes to the flag of the carrier but in those days most of the ships carried passengers from the countries of the flags that they flew. Flags of convenience is a relatively new phenomenon,

Depends on the citizenship of your parents.

Neither, you are a citizen of the country you reside in.
It works the same if you're born on holiday, just cause you're British parents went to New York for a week and you came, it doesn't then make you American.

Your citizenship doesn't necesarily depend on that of your parents...for example...if the parents hold indian passports, live in the USA and on a green card, and they have a child whilst living in the states, that child is entitled to an american passport and citizenship yet the parents are still both technically indian, even if they have dual nationality the child will still be a citizen of the country in which they live. they may be able to apply for dual nationality but just cause the parents have it doesn't mean the child automatically gets it.
And those that say the childs natioanlity depends on that of the mother...again a load of bull. Many women from third world countris and war torn countries travel to the uk, the usa and other countries in europe whilst pregnant, because if they are living in the country when they have the baby (living not holidaying), the child will get citizenship of that country, meaning the mother has a significantly higher chance of not being deported back to where she came from as her child is legally allowed to stay.

With very few exceptions, it will depend on the citizenship of the parents. The United States is one of the exceptions, if you are born in an airplane in US airspace you are entitled to apply for US citizenship. It's pretty much the same reason so many pregnant illegal aliens try to get into the US to have their baby. Most airlines will not allow pregnant women who are that late in their pregnancies to fly, but sometimes it's hard to tell.

It's probably where your parents are from. But I doubt that happens. Who would go on an airplane when they're due?

Citizenship is usually depend ant on the citizenship of the parents. One notable exception is that any child, in any circumstances, born in the U.S. is entitled to U.S. citizenship (another post was incorrect in this point). Even if the pregnant woman was on vacation, her child is still eligible (the daughter of a former neighbor did just that to make her child American, although it was expensive, it worked).

So a baby born on an international flight would get whatever citizenship his or her parents have.

kapn
You are citizen of you mothers citizenship.........

Depends where yr parents live.

There is no why you can be born on an airplane. I don't mean to burst an bubbles but the doctor and the airline would not let you live, I believe you have to make sure it's ok to travel by a doctor, but when you reach a certain point there is no way that doctor would let you leave.
