If the vessel/aircraft is registered in the United States, it is an American territory. However, in foreign land, it is also governed by the law of the land. Regardless, airlines do not serve alcohol while on land. |

In Canada, if you are where the age is 19, then it is technically 19, but the airlines are free to make thier own rules. They will usually stay at 21 if the American flight originated in America, even if you are flying to Europe and getting off. |

Technically on an Am Air flight you are under US jurisdiction the moment you set foot on the plane no matter where it lands. And they have Air Marshalls to make sure. |

It depends on the airline.
Most airlines adopt the laws of the country they are currently in/over.
But a rare few have the policy that the airplane counts as US territory, much like a US embassy in another country.
Easiest way to find out, ask the stewardess. |

I believe the airline would follow it's policy for the serving of alcohol, irregardless of the country they are landing in. If it's an American carrier then they would most likely follow U.S. law which is 21 years old to purchase. Check with the carrier you are flying to see if they make an exception. |

Similar question is..."when on a cruise ship which enters a port in a foreign country...". The cruise ships on which I have sailed honor the rules of the country entered. To be sure, check with the airline on which you fly or plan to fly. |

I believe you have to pass through customs before you officially enter the country. |

technically as long as your an american your governed by both the law of the land your in as well as the laws of the US, in other words the drinking age for you will ALWAYS be 21, as well as other laws such as age of consent ect (this is why people are prosecuted for violations of age of consent laws even if they are in other countries such as thailand) |
