If you could do one thing to improve the airline industry, how would you do it? |
Delays, lost luggage, endless amounts of hours spent on tarmacs. From legacies to regionals, all airlines must confess. But why? What is it? Corrupted management? Bad weather? Computer glitch? Whatever. Do we care? Not at all. All we care about is getting in the air on time. That's all we want. Our worst nightmare is to spend the night at an airport, so far away from home, with no hotel reservations. Is this fair? Can we accept this? Of course not! We don't want this! So why do they do it?
Why. That's our question. And how can we improve this.
I'd like to ask you to speak up about the airline industry, and tell me why this is happening and how you think they can improve this.
Don't tell me it's because of our 'outdated air traffic system.' 23.8 million minutes account because of industry-caused delays. So tell me, how can they fix their mistake. |

How about we make a policy that for every delay the airline must give every person within a 5 mile vicinity of the flight 1000 miles free whenever they need it and for every lost set of luggage we threaten to amputate one finger of the pilot on that flight(finding pilots is hard and most would rather keep their digits)Overnight delays mandate extra brutality. We force feed the airline managers and CEOs daytime television. Nobody likes daytime tv; many people would first die than watch one show. |

Lower their damned prices. More people would fly and they would, even with decreased individual cost, raise their profits and have the income to work on the issues at hand. But greed is keeping them from succeeding even more! |

If passengers have to wait on a plane for more than 1 hour, for whatever reason, they should be allowed to deplane.
If necessary, the airlines should make all arrangements for hotel accommodations and local transportation, and at their expense. |

The industry is filled with contractors and employees supported by a union. the unions can demand anything that they want (within reason) and refuse to move until they get their demands met. (When my son was 6, he used to do the same thing, so we spanked him and sent him to bed It worked.)
If we were to eliminate the presence of unions in the airline industry, you could easily populate these empty positions with additional workers in a week.
The managers and trainers who are already employed can decide if they want to remain with the airline or find a new career. AFter they realize the sweet deal that they have with perks, they will stay and train the new employees who are willing to start at a "fair starting" pay with the lovely benefits attached.
Once the unions are out of the picture, the real dedicated workers will stay for less and be motivated to train the new members for job stability. This will eliminate bloated salaries, costly overtime and pouting when something doesn't go their way.
The savings will be recouped quickly and the money can be re-invested into higher level food suppliers and refunds for passengers who have to sleep on the floor during storms. |

First thing is I would make them be honest with the charging practices. I bought tickets on Delta's site to fly my daughter from SLC tp Lax FOR $217 AND COMPARED THIS PRICE TO Other airlines and decided to go with Delta because I THOUGHT it was the cheapest.
When I got to the ticket counter DELTA hit me with a $100 surcharge for minor children. This $100 was to walk my daughter onto the plane and off the plane. Prettyt expensive if you ask me. I had no idea about this charge and my kids have flown alone for the past 7 years. If I would have known about the charge I would have chose another airlines like Southwest which does not charge extra for minors (not all airlines have this surcharge)
So the site should be structured so this is not a hidden charge, and the price they are charging for this is totally unjustified. Additional charges at the counter should be made unlawful.
The Airlines like to collect money at the counter because every dollar collected at the counter is an extra dollar of profit. Tell me it costs more to escort my daughter on and off the plane??? Tell me it cost more for an extra piece of baggage???? Tell me it cost more to change someones reservation??? All these tasks are done with existing equipment and personal that are fixed.
When my daughter was escorted on the plane they didn't get someone to come escort her, matter of fact my daughter had to wait for everyone else to board because there was only one person working the gate???????? Oh they did fill out some names on an envelope so I figure the cost is about $1 or less and they charged $100.
I will not fly Delta again, nor will my kids. Delta is trying to make godd on their Bankruptcy and I do not like to get hit with undjustifed hidden charges. |
