Depends on the height the plane was at and if the cabin was pressurised or not.
How do you think people jump out of planes for parachute jumps? |

You would find it very difficult to actually open a window. However, on the 10th June, 1990, a window in the cockpit of a BAC 1-11, flying from Birmingham to Malaga, did break and there was an almighty struggle to keep the Captain inside, as he was being sucked out at 17,000 feet. The plane was landed successfully at Southampton airport, and the pilot Captain Tim Lancaster survived.
On the Monday, the 11th June, my wife and I met a couple in Benalmadena, whose very first flight had been on that plane. Although the wife was petrified, they boarded the replacement plane as did, to my knowledge, most of the others and continued their journey.
I've found an article on that occurrence -

Depends on how big the hole is and how high the plane is.
The larger the hole, the more violent the decompression.
The higher the plane, the more violent the decompression
Contrary to popular belief, you probably won't be sucked out if it is a hole the size of a normal aircraft window or smaller. But, one the size of the cockpit windows and it can (and has) happened. Most events that result in people getting sucked out of an airplane are the results of a door-sized or larger hole.
There will be a lot of wind, your ears will hurt and pop. The masks will fall from the ceiling, The plane will probably loose altitude rapidly, both due to the air pressure change, and the pilot making an emergency decent to get to an altitude that has enough oxygen to support life. |

For normal cruising altitudes:
Temperature: ~-60C
Pressure: roughly 1/3 sea level, but Bernouilli increases the pressure differential.
Noise: lots of screaming - air flow, people and - if you were near the window - quite possibly from the blood flowing from your ears and eyes.
Surprise: Well, a load of people have just had bouncy yellow things dropped in front of their faces. Screaming is inevitable.
Pilot response: Their air system is different, so they'll bring the craft down to an acceptable level until all is sorted.
So: you'll get massive nipple hardening, extreme ear-popping, shivers and possibly annoyance. |

Commercial aeroplanes, tend to fly at cruising altitudes around 12,000m (35,000ft), where the outside air is very thin. In order to overcome this and allow passengers to breathe normally, the cabin is pressurized. This higher cabin pressure means that if an opening occurred in the fuselage, such as if a door or window were "theoretically" opened, the rush of air would be strong enough to suck people out. |

A 747 and similar jets pressurize the cabin to 8,000ft but cruise at around 35,000ft. As you go higher, atmospheric pressure reduces, so there would be a huge pressure differential between the cabin and the outside. You would be sucked through the hole so quickly that your body would be shredded by the force. In the cockpit the depressurization alarm would sound, the crew would put on their oxygen masks and deploy the passengers' masks. The pilot would radio a distress call to air traffic control and begin an emergency descent to 10,000ft or lower, where pressure is high enough for most people. He would then continue to descend, probably to 2000ft and make an emergency landing at the nearest airport.
If somehow you had avoided being sucked through the window, you'd be arrested and charged with endangering the safety of a passenger aircraft and endangering people's lives.
So don't do it! |

You would be sucked through it! |

every day is a gift

well first of all, thats not possible! you can not open the windows on a plane! if it were possible however, you, and everything else would get sucked out. |

well not much... planes are built so well now.. with all sorts of glue and stuff...
there was once a plane where 1/4 of the roof came off mid-flight, and only one stewardess got sucked out...
and there was one where the window in the cockpit came out and the pilot was sucked out onto the roof and one of the other pilots had to hold his legs so he didnt get sucked out... lol
basically a lot of wind... but because its at the side, not much would happen, like if you fired a gun in a plane, nothing would happen either... |

depends on the altitude you are at but, generally you would get sucked out along with anything thats not bolted down.
