If you pay for a vacation and your plane crashes on the way there,do you get you money back? (Granted you live
Very interesting question!!
It depends on a number of issues for curtailment:-
1) If you have personal travel insurance (however does not usually cover acts of god ie. lightening strike) and then you may loose the policy excess. Certain time restrictions are in place for getting to your destinaion too.
2) Was it the fault of the airline (in which case you would be compensated if injury / death was caused IF the airline is IATA or covered by Warsaw Convention of 1995 - see below for IATA) or was it an act of god (in which case you wont be covered by the airline or insurance - lawyers can argue this fact though-it has happened in the past when an airline tried blaming god but a lawyer proved it wrong in court)
3) If the airline is a member of IATA (International Air Transport Association) which has compensation cover automatically for passengers who are curtailed/ injured.
4) How good of a lawer you have if they are not IATA, you dont have travel insurance and it was an act of god!!!
5) Each airline is different and can carry there own liability for injury or death.
6) Depends in which country the airline is registered and what country it has departed
Complicated one to answer but I hope you understand it!
Basically take out travel insurance to put your mind at ease if anything untoward does happen but read the small print to see what they over as all policies differ! Also check wht the airlines liability policy is and also check there safety record too!
Have a look at this page by turkish airlines to give you an idea on the complications just from the airlines perspective:-
Good qustion actually. And of course the answer is yes. Infact, depending on the severity of crash you would looking at quite a bit more then a refund. Normally plane crash survivors end up getting huge lawsuits or probably free travel for the rest of their lives.

Yeah if u survive, you sue! BIG TIME! and just retire with 7 figures under your belt.

I would say you'd probably get a pretty big sum of money from the lawsuit.

no
BOOTS!
I would imagine that if you were still alive you could sue! airlines must have really good insurance for such reasons
