If it says no stops it means no stops

northmiamibeach1975
The tickets never show the stops. No airline flies nonstop from the UK to Australia.
If you are flying with British Airways, you'll make a stop in Bangkok or Singapore.

British Airways flies London-Singapore-Sydney and London-Bangkok-Sydney.

Qantas flies Sydney-Singapore-London and Sydney-Hong Kong-London.

The 'no stops' on your ticket is a sales condition. It simply means that you are not allowed to make any stopovers (spending a night or more in another destination) on your flight from the UK to Australia. In no way does it mean that the plane will fly all the way to Australia without stopping. There will be a transit, usually in South-East Asia, where passengers have to get off the plane for an hour for refuelling.

The 'no stops' on your ticket means that you as the passenger are not stopping anywhere - you do not have the opportunity to leave the airport as it is a direct flight. In practice, the distance being flown is so great that the plane will run out of fuel before reaching its destination. The plane will have to stop for fuel but you will not stop travelling so that you can visit another country.

peapod
The no stops reference probably relates to STOPOVERS (when you get off the flight and spend a day or two somewher en route such as Singapore). All BA flights will make a stop usually in Bangkok or singapore for around 1.5hrs where people will get on / off and the aircraft will be re-fuelled. You will then continue onto your destination.

But all flights from the UK have to stop somewhere en route to Oz!

BA15 & BA17 fly London-Singapore-Sydney
I think it's BA16 & BA18 on the way back via Singapore but I can't be sure.

BA9 flies London-Bangkok-Sydney
BA10 flies Sydney-Bangkok-London

You will get off the plane for a short while when you stop, then re-board it and occupy the same seat for the remainder of the journey.

If your going on the new Airbus A380 it can do it non stop but I don't think its on normal operations yet(check with BA before you fly).

The plane will definately need to stop sometime to refuel.. Whenever I fly to oz, the plane always stops in the malaysia area.

cherub
Did you think you were stopping somewhere? Check it with your travel agency. They usually make the itinerary very clear to you and give it to you on paper with your ticket. It may mean you miraculously don't have to change plane at all, but there will have to be a stop for refueling. This will probably take place in the middle east somewhere or asia and will last about an hour. You will get to wander about the airport and that's it. Check with your travel agent though.

rach
i would think you would have to stop somewhere to re fuel??? when i went in 2201 i had a night stop over in Singapore but my mates had a straight run but stoped in New York.. to re fuel have a great time

If you are travelling to Australia from the UK with British Airways,,then your ticket cannot be right,,there is no way you can fly so far without refuelling ,,so this means your aircraft will definately land somewhere,,even if it's only for fuel and food,,I cannot even get a flight to the Philippines without stopping somewhere and the Philippines is a lot nearer than Australia.

sowmonger
You will most likely stop off at singapore.

crimefighter99
Why don't you just call the airlines and ask them?

BizTravelMan
I am afraid what a ticket says, on longhaul, and what actually happens may be two different things. No aircraft, loaded with passengers, can get from the UK to Oz without a stop. All BA flights stop, either in Singapore or Bangkok. YOU do not have any stops on your ticket. The aircraft you are on, however, does! This is usually shown on your travel itinerary (or should be). Some airlines push their luck a bit, notably United who offer all sorts of "non stop" destinations in the US - they do, er, have the same flight number but one or two even involve a stop AND a plane change.
