Internet Booking System ( E-Ticket)?

Hi, i just wanted to ask how this method works ? When you buy a ticket online i heard they send you an email as your ticket ? Any Help ?

Yes, you receive an email with the confirmation #. All I've ever needed at the airport though is my id and credit card that I used for purchasing the ticket. They know your confirmation # when they pull you up in the system.

You can also usually go back online with the airline and re-print your e-ticket or resend it to yourself and possibly others you want to alert to your flight plans.

E-tickets are totally safe though and you don't have to worry about losing a ticket this way since it's all online (and the credit card you used is what is needed to check in so really not possibility of anyone else using your ticket these days unless your id gets stolen at the same time). Good luck!

Yes, that e-mail is sometimes your ticket...or, the e-mail will have a confirmation number that you may need to show with a piece of identification.

Amy
Yes, you will get it within minutes of booking. Print it off and take it with you along with ID. It is your itenirary and receipt.

You're right. The site where you bought your e-ticket will send you an email containing the summary of your flight and the e-ticket. The e-ticket has the confirmation number and the e-ticket number. It also has the bar code. You just have to print the email and when you check-in, for example, with Northwest Airlines, they have kiosk that says E-Ticket Check In. You go there and then just scan the bar code in your e-ticket or there is also an instruction in the screen of the scanner. This works for me and its very convenient because you don't have to go to somewhere else to buy yur ticket. You can just sit in front of your computer at home (or in the office or somewhere else secure...), print your ticket and off you go. Hope this helps!

you get an email with your CONFIRMATION number then usually the night before or the day of your travel you can check-in online using your confirmation number, then you print you boarding pass. done! your e-ticket!

They send an email confirmation. Some airlines send the e-ticket, some you have to go back online with the confirmation number.

e-tickets don't resemble 'real' tickets at all, so it's understandable that it's confusing.

You can also check in online (usually 24 hours prior to your departure time) and print your bordering pass from any computer. This saves a ton of time at the gates.

Since I frequently fly SouthWest Airlines, I can speak on their procedures.

You go to their website: www.iflyswa.com

Click on the "reservations" button.
Select the city you're flying from.
Select the city you're flying to.
Fill in the departure date.
Fill in the return date.
Fill in the # of passengers.

You will then get a listing of flights available, their flight#, the time of departure & arrival and a price selection.

Select the flight and price you want for the departing flight.
Select the flight and price you want for the returning flight.

Select the "US purchase" button.

Fill out all pertinent information such as billing address, credit card#, etc.

When you are done you will press one more button which actually makes the reservation/purchase.

You immediately will get a "Confirmation #" & travel summary displayed to you.

I PROCEED TO CAPTURE THE SCREEN IMAGE AND SAVE IT TO A JPEG FILE.

Moments later, you will get an email confirmation containing all your flight information and the confirmation #.

THAT EMAILS IS NOT YOUR TICKET OR BOARDING PASS.

**********************

Boarding The Plane.

Once you are within 24 hrs of departing, return to the Southwest website.
Select the "Travel Tools" button.
Look for & select the link that says:
"Check In Online/Print Boarding Pass".
Enter the confirmation#, 1st and last name, then select the "Retrieve Reservation" button.

Your boarding pass will be displayed to you.

PRINT OUT THE BOARDING PASS.
I USUALLY PRINT IT OUT 3 TIMES (JUST TO BE SAFE).

Now you can board!

When you get to the airport, wait on the "E-Ticket" line.
Check-in your check in luggage.

If you do not have check in luggage, go straight to the departure gate.

Have fun!
