my dad and i flew first class once when i was 17 (this is 8 years ago on british airways) we were upgraded because we had so many frequent flyer miles so the trip was free.the VIP rooms before the flight were kind of cool and we actually saw netanyahu in the VIP room flying out of london- lets see, the chairs went all the way back so you could basically lay down in them. there was no one next to me because you basically had your own little area. they offered me champagne (yes at 17) and they thought i my dad was some rich business man and i was mistress (which was kind of gross). the food was brought out with plates and silverware and we got little gift packages, the had a movie list and the flight attendants brought over dvds whenever i wanted to watch a different movie (8 years ago). basically it was nice and not cluttered - that said, flight still felt long, still had jet lag.

if someone else was paying id def go with first class, id never pay for it because flying a long flight is still a long flight and i still feel gross sitting in a chair with 400 other people for however many hours regardless of the location on the plane

For most of us I think the answer depends on who is paying! If I'm flying but you're paying, you bet first class is worth it. But if I'm paying and you're flying, first class would be an unnecessary extravagance.

Most people in first class did NOT pay a first class fare.

if you have

a) an awful lot of dosh (in which case, please send some my way)
b) a REALLY important meeting soon after you get to your destination...you need to be on top of your game...millions $ at stake
c) a really generous boss!

If I paid for a full fare First Class round trip ticket, say from USA to Europe, it would be a substantial double digit dent in my annual pre-tax income. Not even the new Ryan Air business class would be worth that

Depends on the airline and the price difference. But generally yes, it's worth it.

John
Yes, always worth it for international flights, and really anything over five hours.

ilovefriedclams
I'd imagine so...

Would you rather have this for 15 hrs:

it depends the price you are paying. if it is like 3k then its not worth it 1900 it is...... if its over 1900 its not worth it for 15 hrs
