Curiosity Killed the Kat

Is US Airways a good airline for travel to Europe?

I'm flying with US Airways, Philadelphia to Manchester in a few weeks. The plane is an A330 and I'm in economy. I've heard that the legroom is bad, worst than other airlines for transatlantic travel ... is that true?

I can also go with British Airways, but it will cost me an extra $200

I've traveled in BA economy and I can tell you it isn't very comfy. They do have individual tv-screens in the seatback and "movies-on-demand". This is very nice. I don't know if US Airways have the same system.

But a direct flight will save you some hours connecting at Heathrow so it's not an easy decision.

US Airways is not very good, but they have one huge advantage - they fly nonstop. That's worth something all by itself because you avoid the hassle of changing planes at Heathrow.

Legroom in economy class is tight at 31 inches, but that's not unusual. Most British Airways' transatlantic aircraft only offer 31 inches of legroom. You could get 32 if you're on the right aircraft type.

On my last US Airways transatlantic flight, the service was minimal and the inflight meal inedible. I ate granola bars that I carried in my carry-on bag. The return meal was much better, but I was flying out of Paris and their French caterer is much better than whoever supplies the food in Philadelphia.

British Airways will give you better service but probably no better comfort and you'll have the hassle of a connection.

I'm actually on the phone with us airways right now. My brother is coming back. I guess if you go in the summer, and there are no weather delays, then I guess it's nice. There was a major storm in boston, so all flights were delayed, yet they haven't changed the times yet! It's really stressful, for the person who is picking you up. They don't have enough people yet

its better than american or delta, but if ill bet the extra $200 is well worth it!

I try to avoid US Airways because they have a high baggage mishandle rate and they were the first airline to get rid of free snacks on domestic flights. You can go to http://www.seatguru.com for seat pitch and seat width information.

As for paying the extra $200, it might be worth it. I am not a very tall person so I do not need extra legroom or a wider seat. But the flight will be long so you do want to be comfortable. If you are a US Airways frequent flier member then you might as well go with US Airways since you can earn quite a bit of mileage. If you have no airline loyalty and have the extra $200 to spare, go with British Airways.

I flew US Air...
Philly to Manchester in August.

Leg room was horrible. I would avoid it if you have a choice.

The best would NOT be British Airways.

1. US Airways are the only airline flying direct between PHL and MAN.
2. British Airways will take you to Heathrow to change flights before you get to your destination.
3. British Airways lose over 1000 bags everyday at Heathrow alone, not exaclty somewhere you want to go is it?

amz
the best would be BRITISH AIRWAYS !!!

its perfect for someone who want comfort and EXCELLENT service
its got everything you need
