Is a High School I.D good enough to travel by plane within the United States?

I want to go visit my grandmother in Indiana but i live in California. I was wondering if a high school i.d was good enough to travel by plane from CA to IN or if i'm gonna need my passport? I don't have any other I.D, and i just turned 17.

Yes.

US-Government issue ID is required for domestic travel by TSA, for adult passengers. ONLY for adult passengers, meaning 18 and over.

The Airlines require photo-ID, but depending on airline, may not require Government-issue, and you can fly despite that if you don't mind being screened more thoroughly than other passengers.

Charlie
Yes it is. Under 18 is not required to have I.D., tho is is always wise to carry I.D.

yes you fly anywheres within the united states as long as your not leavign the country with a student id, license, state id, etc... a passport is only needed if you are flying/driving outside the united states which you are not so yes a student high school id will work.

No, you need to have a government issue id. Passport, drivers license, or state ID. Most states will let you have a state ID card which will look similar to that states drivers license & they are cheap to get.

No, you need a government issued ID to go through airport security. Your passport should suffice though.

Passport is must

Pagan Dan
You usually need government-issued identification. Your school ID just shows the name by which the school knows you, which may or may not be your real name. It is not uncommon for kids to be enrolled in school under their mother's remarried surnames.

Your age has got nothing to do with it, by the way.
