i fly domestic for business all the time and i get upgraded a lot. most of the time it's only from NYC to DC or NYC down to miami.... since they are short flights the only difference is that they give you a free drink and you can eat a small bag of sun chips
there's really not much of a difference except there's always room for your carry on bags and you don't have to wait forever to get on/off
BUT for international- it's a completely different ball game... it's nice food, better service and amenity kits. for long trips over 3-4 hours, it's worth it. |

Only on a long flight of say 6 hours or more. Your still stuck in a tube but free drinks and a good meal are nice on long flights. |

I agree with the other poster. If it's a short flight, three hours or less, coach is fine. My husband and I fly from Va. to Atlanta then to Vegas, a couple of times a year. One of those trips we were sitting in the plane for over an hour, due to mechanical problems, before ever leaving the gate. Being in First Class made it much more bearable. They take better care of you. We promised ourselves to always go First Class on a cross country trip. |

It's probably never worth the money unless you have the money to blow, 1st class can cost as much as ten times more on international flights. On the better airlines these days you'll get priority check-in, boarding, baggage handling, lounge access, designer amenity kits, seats that fold down into full beds, large screen tvs with video on demand, three and four course meals, better service and more. If you're using frequent flyer miles to upgrade or use your miles for award 1st class travel it's well worth it. Spending $10,000 on a 1st class international ticket isn't worth it to me, but it's the only way to fly if you can afford it or have the miles. Business class is a lot less expensive and still has most of the benefits of 1st class, but it's not cheap either. |

If you're over 6' tall then yes, it is worth it.
On Domestic flights there isn't much difference except for the size of the seat. But on international flights it is like the difference between going to dinner at a nice classy restaraunt and a soup kitchen.
For me, just being in a comfortable seat and arriving well rested after an 8 - 13 hour flight is well worth it. |

It depends on how long the trip is. If you are flying from America to lets say....France, then yes it is worth it. If you are taking a short flight, then it's not worth paying for it.
Hope this helps! |

No way, unless you are on an expense account. The only difference is that the seats are wider and leather covered and you get a free watered down drink |

Jackie, it depends on you and your lifestyle and your money. First class is very nice, particularly on long flights. The extra room and the meals make the trip go much faster.
It is a judgment call that you have to make for yourself.

Depends on the airline (on some, the difference may be 3 inches of leg space) and the length of the flight. And the price :]
Do research and see what the first class on the airline you're flying is like. |
