No, flying is magnificent. First there is the excitement of getting to your destination, then as the plane speeds down the runway there is the thrust as it zooms up into the air. It is exhilarating, and the view is magnificent. If you divide your time into parts on the flight such as 15 minutes to settle in, 2 hours for movie, half hour to eat, half hour to sit and ponder your trip, etc, the time will pass quickly. You can always chat to people as well - usually outside the toilets near the wing of the plane is good social place. If you are worried, just fly with an airline that has a good track record. |

Just try to relax and enjoy the experience! Flying is an amazing experience. One I myself cannot get enough of! Tell the flight attendants it's your first time flying...hopefully you have nice f/a's that will comfort you. Try to get a window seat....hopefully it's a nice clear day and you can see some pretty neat views...even if it is cloudy, it still looks kinda cool! It's amazing to see what it looks like on the other side of the clouds. You will be just fine, and I hope you have a GREAT time! Remember, flying is actually safer than flying. You didn't say where in CO you were going, but just a heads up....if you are landing in Denver, it tends to be a bit bumpy as you get near the mountains. This is nothing to be afraid of, I promise you!! It's normal!! |

It's just a whole new experience, one you must do! I only flew for the first time a couple of years ago and I almost threw up with fear before take-off, but as soon as the plane started taxiing around the runway I was just excited for the experience. Take-off is amazing, your head gets thrown to the headrest behind you with the sheer speed, it's an incredible experience. Once you're in the air it's very smooth and the views are amazing.
One tip for you: I've flown about 6 times now and I still get nervous sometimes, and when I do, I just look over at the air hostesses - it's their job to do this and they're not worried!!
You're in safe hands, enjoy your trip! |

The person above me is right about the bumpy approach to Denver. Turbulence is actually fun to ride! But yes....when the plane is on the runway taking off, it's amazing and you probably won't feel anything bad as the plane is pressurized. Once you're in the air, you'll feel as if the plane never even left the ground. You may be worried about the air at high altitude, don't worry just chew a piece of gum. Landing is also a fun experience; you won't realize it, but an airplane drops altitude at a very high rate (you'll notice 2 minutes before you land). When the airplane hits the actual runway, you'll feel a slight bump. Then the aircraft slows down tremendously. I believe you will be fine! |

Think for Myself

It's a very different experience from a car. I would look at maps on maps.Google.com (satellite view) to see what you'll be flying over. I love to sit by the window and see if I can guess where I am am.. of course this is not possible on trans-Atlantic flights.
I don't think you'll find is as scary as some roller coasters. |

It's like sitting on a chair in your living room. Where are you going? How long is the flight?
Bring some music with you to listen to while you are flying.
You'll be alright, just try to relax.
Good Luck) |
