i hope your knee is ok man!! i hate people that say "it WAS your decision not to recline your char". I mean, why should you be uncomfortable just because you have consideration for the people behind you. this world is full of selfish people though man, but chin up, at least you had just been on a fab honeymoon i hope! |

Sadly I think it was probably her 'right' to do that, because the seats go back that way (and you are allowed to use all the facilities available if you want).
However, out of pure consideration she shouldn't have done it. |

Why didn't you ask for a bulkhead seat? That would have been the solution.
I agree, the woman was inconsiderate. The same thing happened to me, and my back was killing me for my vacation. |

A difficult one.
If you had had an operation on your knee, then clearly you had a much better reason to give it space. So you should have felt OK to recline your seat back against the person behind you as they probably had not had a knee problem.
That said I do hope the lady in front of you meets an untimely death very soon. |

Ive had this happen to me before, and I dont think it's ok. That was a rude woman sat in front of you, and although I would think it best to complain to the airline, I doubt they'd do much. I expect they'd say the same as the steward. |

I couldn't agree more. I am 6ft 1 and refuse to recline my seat because I have concideration for the person behind me. With hindsight, you should've asked for an isle seat which does help. Unfortunately, this is the way of "economy" and always will be. Unlucky with that selfish "woman", but we all live and learn |

I agree with you, I don't like to recline my seat all the way back in consideration of the person behind me. However, the woman was well within her rights and I'm sure she wasn't the only person on the flight or any flight for that matter, that reclines their seat all the way back. That's very considerate of you, but under the circumstances you probably should have reclined your seat back at least partially and like it or not, she was certainly entitled to do so. |

No you're not a at fault. It's that rude lady and the Airline for designing their seats that way. |

I know, Its so impolite and inconsiderate - Especially due to your circumstances.
Ive asked ,my uncle this (he works form BA and in a Purcer (incharge of one cabin) And unfortunately there is nothing that they are allowed to do, ask the "lady" had paid for her seat and can do what she wants with is providing she isnt breaking the law "reclined for take off etc" |

I really sympathise with you as I have seen this problem first hand. My husband has back trouble and problem knees and has had surgery on both. When you book a flight if you ask for extra leg room seats they are usually by the emergency exit so you must be fully fit. Having to pay for them is also totally wrong as it is not the persons fault if they are perfectly normal size but their knees touch the seat in front.
I once saw a man recline his seat so fast and without warning that he hit a small child on the lap of the person sitting behind him and refused to move to another seat.
It is polite to at least warn the person behind.. The airlines have a lot to answer for with the restricted space they give. |

I've had exactly the same thing happen to me,and its very rude of the woman to do this especially when you have a bad knee.Unfortunately there is so little space this is inevitably going to happen, especially if your sitting in economy where you already have your knees in your chin.Perhaps a letter to the airline to let them know of your experience might make them realise people are getting fed up of being tucked in like sardines. |

thats horrible!! bmi are crap. me and my mum went on holiday for about 3 weeks and i wanted to stay more because some of my cousins lived in spain and stuff so i did. my mum payed extra for me to go on my own on the way back it was my decision anyway. so i got on the plane and i had a lovely seat by the window i love it there and then this lady with 5 kids came and since i went on my own the 2 seats have to be empty - i know its rude but they said it. so she sat the 2 kids next to me they were about 2-3 years younger than me. one was crying coz she wanted to sit in my seat and the other wanted to play on MY nintendo. how rude. anyway i told the airhostess person and she said its because the kids want to be with their mum. if they do then why do they bother me. so the lady literally begged me to give my nintendo to them and i said no because i was bored too. i left my nintendo next to me and they stole it. their mum also done the same thing to me but i hadn't hurt my knee or anything so thats really horrible and disrespectful. even the steward was bad. so yeah in the end i told the aeroplane people giving drinks and they asked their mum if she had my nintendo and she took it out of her bag. if i hadnt told them she would have stolen it and i would have been in trouble with my mum. anyway you should complain. bmi also lost my suitcase and delivered it to my house a week later! my camera was ruined |

no its not okay and you should complain to the airline because they have got to allow you some legroom even when a customer reclines their seat |

i fly quiet a bit and i always recline my seat..it should only move an inch or so..but if i was causing anyone (especially with a medical complaint) discomfort i would straighten my seat.
i would also have asked the stewards to move me to another seat. and send the air line any Physio bills for treatment!! |

You booked a cheap flight and got a cheap airline with no legroom.
She was within her rights.
If you wanted more legroom book on a decent airline. |

I can't STAND it when people recline their chairs on flights. Best thing to do would have been to dig your legs into her chair so she too was uncomfortable. Unfortunately you couldn't do this because of your knee but for future reference the trick is to just make them feel as uncomfortable as possible. |

Well, not reclining WAS your decision. |

Mate, I totally agree. This woman was a total horrible and rude person. Even if you hurt your knee or not, its just common decency and courtesy to give people space. Neil and And on this page are obviously the kind of w@nkers who don't really care about other people. Lets home them and the woman on your plane have a few drinks and then drive home. |
