They are the same. Once you know the flight you want, you can either buy it online (credit card), or go to the airport to pay in person. You can also phone in to have the itinerary held for you until the end of the day to give you a chance to get to the airport before the seat is gone.

Online is absolutely the cheapest way. At the airport (at least here in Europe) you'd have to pay a charge for issuing a ticket.

Usually online. You have a greater chance to compare prices,flight schedules etc. If you are flexible "Stand By" is a great way to fly. Just be packed and ready to go when they call or e mail you !!
