You can take pictures of anything and everything. And yes I've photos of pilots in the cockpit and flight attendants in the loo! (Don't get excited now. They were decent!)

Does your phone have a "flight mode"? If so, it's legal to use it in flight. But as soon as you turn it off "flight mode" it's illegal. Most phones with "flight mode" are able to take picture while in it.

Clicking pictures in the plane is not banned at all unless you wish to take snaps of
1. Pilots & the Cockpit .......... and
2. of someone sitting in the Loo :-)
Go Ahead & become a great inflight photographer. Just keep your profile low and don't let the whole plane know about your shooting venture.
