Don't worry about it. I know that seems hard not to, but the more you worry, the scarier it'll be.
When you taxi, you barely feel the plane move at all. At this point the cabin crew will tell you all you need to know about what to do in case of emergencies and such.
When the plane prepares for liftoff, it starts to go really fast down the runway, and then within 45 seconds you are up in the air. Things may seem a little wobbly at first, but that's just because of moving through the different altitudes. Your ears will pop as you climb through the altitudes also. (chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure.)
Once you are in the air, things will feel smooth. You will hear the humm of the engines, but that's normal, nothing to worry about. I actually find it relaxing. If there is turbulence, you might feel the plane wobble a little bit, but remember, planes are designed to withstand this, so take a deep breath and try not to think about it.
When you are approaching landing, your ears will pop as you descend through the altitudes (remember: chewing gum, drinking something, swallowing, or yawning will alleviate the pressure). You will feel the plane slow down and the cabin crew will prepare you for landing. When the plane touches down it kind of feels like a short jolt, and then you hear them cut the engines off and the plane slows down pretty fast.
From there, the plane will taxi to either the gate or the designation where a bus will pick you up. You wait for the plane to decompressurize a few moments before they start letting the passengers out. That was your flight.
To entertain yourself:
- Bring along a few book, magazines, puzzles (such as crosswords or Sodoku if you like those).
- Bring along an iPod, MP3 player, or CD player to listen to music.
- A laptop is good to have as you can play games on it, connect to the internet, and get any work done that you may have.
- Try talking to the people next to you. Sometime you will meet some really interesting people, and forge friendships.
Hope you have a good one! |

HELL NO!!!!!
See i don't like people like that, if i'm gonna be a pilot, i need customers!
Hun, it's not scary. Really! I LOVE PLANE'S!
NO ONE should be scared! Unless it crashes of course.
Now being serious, being in a plane is more like... a huge cramped up room with lots of people up in the air. I like that feeling.
And when it takes off it goes suuuuper fast! It's really cool, honestly if you ever get on, you'll love it too!
And when it lands, THAT'S the scary part. Because it's the hardest part for a pilot and many mistakes can occur. Thankfully all the planes I've sat on had no emergency situations. So it rarely happens, don't worry. Plus pilots got experience they should know what they're doing.
I hope you DO get to fly in one, because EVERYONE should get the chance. Flying is amazing inside a plane! |

While I don't worry about getting on a plane, I do find myself a bit frightened whenever the plane experiances turbulance. |

No. It is the most exciting feeling in the world. I especially like takeoff--the roar of the engines and the sheer power. Of course, the excitement that you are going somewhere that you have been looking forward to see. Even landing is great, because you know you are going to soon start a new adventure.
You will love it. |

yes it is especially when you see the fire roaring from the engines and the wings flap, and the plane hits a wind turbulance and the plane shakes and bumps up and down you want to just throw up |

it can be. personally i like it. if you are afraid of heights i would say sit in the isle. the scariest parts are takeoff and landing the flight itself is usually fine. |

Flying to me is like a bus ride. It is very boring, and nothing to do but sleep. Take along something to occupy your time, and you will be fine. |

If it is your first ride on an airplane it can be a little scary because you are flying in the air. But there is absolutely NOTHING to be afraid off. I have been on airplanes many times and I think they are kinda fun! I mean the food is very interesting and the people are nice. The only thing worth being afraid of is getting sick! I highly recommend airborne!!!!!! And if you are nervous at first, try chewing gum. It is very relaxing on an airplane for some reason. In otherwords, no it is not scary on an airplane. |
