Don't drink caffeine before or during the flight. Bring noise canceling headphones, or earplugs for the noise. Bring a sleep mask (they sell them in drug stores) for the light. Get a window seat (for the wall) and bring a pillow, if possible. The pillows they have aren't very comfortable. Good luck. |

I don't think there is in cattle class, I know I do sleep but badly because I hear the slipstream and I know I have been asleep for a few minutes |

Ear plugs, eye mask and your own pillow. |

Ear plugs, eye mask and a bed in first class.
Not sleeping for the previous 48 hours might help too. |

Actually, when I had trouble sleeping (since I was 12), I took this thing called Melatonin found at pretty much any CVS/Walgreens. It's really all-natural and has no side effects (I swear). It beats anything else. I swear, it's cheap and the best thing that's happened to my sleep. |

Don't force yourself to sleep because it won't work. Drink plenty of orange juice to keep yourself hydrated, no alcohol as that won't help you sleep. Just take a short nap when you reach your destination and you'll feel good. |

Try natural alternatives like Kalms or Nitol. No nasty sluggish after effects...safer and more natural for the body as Kalms is full of hops! (Same as beer!!!) |

For me an easy way to sleep on a long haul flight is listening to either relaxing ocean sounds on a cd or just listen to some relaxing music it always does the trick for me. |

Stay up all night the night before, or stay up real late.
Get good earphones that exclude all outside sounds and play some relaxing music, works GREAT
Read a book.
or do all the above at once!
Bring your own pillow - its worth it! |

first, get a good seat, first class is the best, but if you can't, then once you book your fight, goto the website of the airline you will be flying with, look up your flight and get the seating chart for your flight, find a open seat either in a emergancy exit, or the first row with a partition in front of you, then call the airlines to get a new seat, tell them what seat you want, i do this all the time, you will have more leg room this way.
then take some music with you, or if you dont want to, or can't, use the headphones that they provide, and all airlines have a radio station that plays classical relaxing music to help you go to sleep. |

Not exactly a drug, try Phenergan, it's an anti allergy tablet that has the side effect of making you sleepy. I take one at night when I can't sleep, I soon get off then. They can be bought over the counter at the chemists. You want the 25mg tablet.
Importantly it is non addictive. |
