Is there a size (not weight) limit on suitcases on flights ?

I've seen some pretty enormous bags go through. Of course, the bigger they are, the more they weigh, so be very careful.

Check with the individual airline for any size restrictions they might have.

The Tank
There is a maximum size for cabin baggage as well as Hold Luggage. If your bag is to in go the hold you can take pretty enormous ones.

For a really accurate answer you must see the individual airline's web site.

Yes there is a limit, yes it varies by airline and yes they all charge an excessive amount for going over the weight limit. Contact your airline or if you go to the website for the airport that you are going to there should be links for all of the airlines in your area that way you can pick an airline based upon which one has the policy which suits your needs if price is not an issue

julie travelcaster
Yes there is. On every airline. Problem is that it varies by airline, and for many you can actually bring a larger suitcase (oversize luggage) but may need to pay extra.

Check your airline's web site.

Anyone Know?
Oh yes...

Some airlines even have a rack, for you to mount your carry-on in, so as to check its dimensions.

Sucks, eh?

Trudy
no as long as it doesn't exceed weight

I've seen bags big enough to hide a dead body in. But there is a size limit to the bags that can be handled my the automation. After that oversize bags are handled manually (skis, bicycles) and I am positive that there is an upper limit on that too. Really big items must be shipped cargo

I've never seen a size limit except on onboard luggage. I've seen some enormous bags being checked in (Pakistan & Biman airlines check-in from the Middle East is a sight to behold) they are not concerned about size only weight. Pack away.

merbel
There is no limit to the size of suitcases on flight. What matters is the weight of the suitcase which must not exceed a specified limit set by the air line.

However, the size of your suitcase may become an issue if its a hand luggage since you will not be allowed to take a very big suitcase into the space that is meant for passengers comfort and safety.

have a safe trip!

Moonrise
yes, on size and on weight. ask the airline office

check the airline webpage, especially for some dicount tickets or some discount airlines, they have lots of limits!

peace lover
no, there is no size limit

Capt C
72 cubic inches, and I think it's 50 lbs (maybe 70). Larger than that, you'll be charged extra.
