Two things i would do in the future is tell when you are leaving and wat airport of are leaving from. But i put some averages together for you. From STL you can fly Detla roundtrip 500 bucks. Leaving from MCI the best i could find was a 509 dollar flight on Cheapair.com. And if for some reason you are leaving from Springfield the best i can find is 640. Now keep in mind that i did this as leave the 14th of Oct. if you are leaving before it will be more and if you are leaving after it will be cheaper now here are some links that i would use because these are not very big airports i would sites like Expedia and Cheapoair. Try www.airfarewatchdog.com or priceline.com. If you cannot find anything, see if you can find an airport that is served by a low cost carrier. I think Southwest has a hub in St. Louis but I am not sure what the closest city to Bangor they fly into. Maybe you can rent a car from that airport and continue into Bangor.

I always have the best rates available, but I just looked at a flight from St. Louis Mo to Bangor Maine and the cheapest was $1200. So I'd say $800 is a bargain, unfortunately.
