No, the airlines do not offer any kind of emergency plane tickets for these kinds of situations. You need to check cheaptickets.com, lastminutetravel.com, priceline.com or one of the other on-line sites to see what you can do.
You can call up the airline and see what kind of last minute fares they can offer you, but it won't be cheap. And the bereavement fares are not cheap either. They are a discount off of the most expensive full coach rate.

and at least now they have her on heavy
IV killing as much pain as possible.

Most of the airlines have done away with hardship flights like that. You can check but I do believe you will have to pay full price for a fare.

All the airlines offer "bereavement" fares but they are rarely cheap. The discounts offered are based on a last-minute full-fare ticket and you can usually do better booking your own ticket using a travel search site such as Travelocity or Yahoo Travel.

There is a bereavement fair but I believe it would only available after a death. Its not a whole lot cheaper but it is cheaper.

Unfortunately, bereavement fares are nearly non-existent. You are better off purchasing a non-refundable low fare ticket - which will be more expensive within 7 days of travel.
Sorry for your predicament.
