Staff are ruder than normal. Food, dont expect much, if at all. Most short flights have nothing. Take your own. Suffer, suffer seems to be the united way to fly.

No - if you book a regular "Economy" ticket you are stuck in the back of the plane and have next to no legroom. They then try to up-sell you for another $29-$49 depending on the length of the flight to "Economy +" for more legroom. You always have to connect through Chicago to get anywhere. They are very limited on their food while on board and try to sell you a "snack box" for $5 - this same box would be free on any Southwest flight of any length.

Depends on what 'good' means to you. The ground staff is rude and unhelpful, cabin crew indifferent and flights are more often than not delayed. Welcome to the friendly skies! Actually United is no worse than most other domestic US airlines and you should go with no great expectations, loose clothing, a good book, a solid snack, loads of patience....and a dollop of good humor.

Not really. If you can help it, probably try to find a different airline. The staff are rude and oblivious. Also, there are a lot of delays for stupid things (Someone brought an unauthorized bottle of perfume on board the plane and we were sitting on the runway for 45 minutes. I missed my next flight and i was a minor then, so i had to sit in the unaccompanied minor room for FIVE hours because the woman "forgot" to book me another flight.)

Maybe I just had two bad experiences...

NO! I usually don't answer questions like this, but I feel I have to. I find that United has the rudest flight attendants. Also, we often fly between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Ever 5 years or so, we forget how awful United is, and fly them, and we always regret it. They often have very long delays, which I could live with if their staff weren't so rude. Once, I got up right after the fasten seat belt sign was turned off. The flight attendant got in my face and started yelling at me that I was supposed to stay in my seat. After she finished ranting, I showed her that the fasten seat belt sign had turned off. She just huffed and walked past me - no apology or anything!

I used to like American, but we recently flew on them and they were rude also. Really, the nicest service and most on-time flights we have experienced have been with Southwest and Frontier.

No they are not. The staff are very rude and mean, the food stinks, and they always have delays. Fly in a different airline because United really stinks and so does the service on the plane. Personally my favorite airline is Continental, they have a very nice, helpful, and respectful staff, they have great food, the flights are relaxing, and there are never any delays. Continental is simply the best!
